Changing logos is fun. It really throws the common Rantard off his rhythm, y'know?

On offense we should be able to maul most teams with our rushing game but not sure Pittman will ever have an offense with the precision to put up the huge numbers require to win shootouts every week.

Our OL isn't good enough to maul anybody

You've been duped into online chatter. Those two will be fine Will your young QB take a step forward in development? Will your Oline improve over last year?

This. All that nonsense about Jimbo and Bobby in a fist fight on the sidelines is equally as absurd as thinking the rant can vote someone out of the conference.

The real question of our team will be “have the O and D lines matured and will the coaching evolve to help protect the young QB and stop opposing running games better than in 2022?”

Ole Miss has two.

1) We can't tackle very well. We were much better tackling in 2021 in our second year under DJ Durkin. But we regressed in 2022 after Durkin left for aTm. I am hopeful Pete Golding can coach our guys up to tackle better or at least be in better position to slow the other team's ball carrier down.

2) We lack downfield threats to keep the defense honest (to be honest, we've lacked a vertical passing game since about October 2021). We have brought in some talented transfers and I hope they can be the difference.

For Auburn

On Offense- QB. Who will it be and can they be an accurate enough passer to operate Freeze and Monty's system at an effective level. I think our OL will actually be very serviceable with the transfers brought in. Running game will be solid which should help the passing game.

WRs- Overhauled the WR w some size and what we hope to be talent...but it is just an unknown right now. We need 2 of the 4 WRs transfers to be legit.

On the Defensive side of the ball, I would say LB group is the biggest ?. I think the DL will solid with Harris, Jones, Rogers.

The other ? on front seven is pass rush. We should be better with J. McCleod but until I see him against SEC competition on a weekly basis he is unproven. I know he played well against Aggies last year. but that is one game and against a bad Aggy team.

Secondary should be legit. I have some cponcern at the other S spot next to Simpson but we should have a couple lock down corners in James and Pritchett.

From a whole team perspective.....DEPTH. Our 1s seem pretty decent across the board on both sides of the ball, but if we have injuries at key positions it could get bad. We aren't going to match talent wise with the upper teams, but I think we have good enough players that can keep us in games and with better coaching can overcome.

AU record prediciton if stay healthy - 9-3.
Most likely - 7-5

Until Arkansas fields a defense ranked in the top 75 in the NCAA that will be the auto answer. The offense should be pretty potent actually.

For Ole Miss:

Offensively I am concerned with our WRs as we don't have much back that are proven in the SEC. We got some really talented transfers in but very much in wait and see mode.

Defensively there's just a million new faces so everything gelling is a concern. Linebacker is the main position of concern but the players seem to love Golding. I'm also in wait and see mode about the DL depth but early reports are actually pretty good.

The defense is definitely the biggest concern overall. If the transfer WRs are as touted then I think the offense will be one of the best in the country. That said, the defense dominated the first fall scrimmage.

Lots of issues for AU-

I’ll say biggest question is QB- hearing/reading that Ashford is #3 at this point in camp- Gernier is the best QB and had a great scrimmage but hasn’t definitely beat out Thorne. Thorne was brought in as the presumptive starter- but MSU fans basically said he is only as good as his WRs. It seems like the battle for #1 is far from settled. So- stability here will be key.

I hear the line is the actual size of a D1 college team- so that’s good. Also hearing the WRs are looking good- which is nice because last year they couldn’t have been worse!

I’m hopeful we will win 7 and surprise someone.
