When MSU balked at his father, the Newtons panicked and went to AU.
I don't think it was much of a team effort, but I do think Cam knew or had a good idea what his dad was up to.
Auburn was actually a safe harbor for the Newtons. Auburn knew early on what happened, AU compliance is very thorough, and it was a much better opportunity than MSU anyway.
Rich McGlynn will actually tell you a lot about Cam and Pearl on a one to one basis. He's a very thorough guy and he will not be pushed around by anyone else at AU.

People can be so jealous. Just let these guys be who they have always been. Humility is overrated IMO.
I think Bo Jackson is the greatest athlete ever from the state of Alabama and is a really great, and interesting guy. I admired Ronnie Brown as one of the toughest running backs in SEC history. Tracy Rocker was one of the most dominate SEC defensive players in the 80s. All three played for AU all three were great and I liked all three. So why is Newton different?

How about don't judge people and just worry about yourself?

So you would prefer to judge an entire sex of people? Oh, the hypocrisy.

none of those guys came from 24 points down to beat you on your field.

I think Newton is a great player. The way he carried himself during his season at AU rubbed some folks the wrong way - same with Manziel's actions and attitude while at aTm. Folks like to see humility in a superstar I guess
quote:The media hacks are to blame for most of the public's opinion of superstar athletes. They media forced Tebow down our throats so long that we formed a sour taste for him.
I can live with this.
But I always though tebow was humble and people hated him...hell some even wanted to make him cry.
The media mutilated Newton, his family, and AU for so long that when the kid showed an ounce of celebration for his accomplishments on the field, we saw it as unbridled arrogance, in reality it wasn't really all that bad.
The media went wild with the "Honey Badger" until the shite hit the fan while he was at LSU.....
The media created the Johnny Football mystic until things started to go south....
The Brent Musburger's and Vern Lundquist's of the sports world go way overboard when they latch on to an athlete and it nauseates us.

Excuse me while I laugh at the fact that you just replied with an "I agree with this" meme to someone who agreed with one of your assessments, thereby agreeing with your own assessment.

Other than Bo, who may be the greatest athlete in American history, none of those guys has a brand like Cam. It's a different era, and being subtle doesn't make you a star. JFF knows this too. Admittedly, I'm not a guy who prefers swaggering athletes, but that's largely how it is in this culture. You're rewarded for it.

idk why Newton is different for you. Maybe you're one of the people who likes to see humility from D1 SEC players/professional athletes who make millions of dollars.

I was attempting to get under your skin, which I clearly did. By all means, take everything I say literally. Please do. It'll be a lot of fun for me.

Yes, it still says the exact same thing.

No, it doesn't. Try again and this time read more carefully.

Sorry, I didn't know flippant claims of sexism were intended to be humorous. Missed that in Chivalry 101.

I didn't say anything about intending to be humerous.

I skipped Chivalry 101 to attend Arrogance 101.
So please excuse my sexist ways, but damn I look good.
