Who he hired as a replacement is a side note at best.

Not when the new attorney is also representing Miller and Pearl. Thats the headline.

Especially one with NCAA experience. You need the right tool for every job and general counsel wasn't the right tool for this job. Wade just made a very, very good move.

I'm sure Alleva had to go change his depends.

What took Wade so long to make this very, very good move?

Maybe I was just off but it seemed you were trying to represent the news as some new bad twist for LSU like Wades situation was deteriorating more when in reality this is the best news for Wade and LSU in a while and the article says as much.

Exactly.

That's why Delly works for SI and Tuscaloosa works for Bama Jelly, Inc.

Why do you assume it took him so long? Does the article say he just hired the new counsel today?

if this guy kept pearl and miller on the bench then Wade can't be far behind

Pearl hired him at UT and then was fired. UT paid almost 1mil for a buyout. Wade is just hiring a lawyer to get that buyout.

The article doesn't make it clear when exactly Wade obtained this new attorney. Could've been weeks ago.

Article implied that his attorney has been working on this meeting for a while but maybe I'm reading too much into it.

Complete supposition follows:

The LSU administration included the NCAA representative in their meeting request with Will Wade because that adds real repercussions should Wade demonstrably lie in the meeting.

I would assume that this happened because the LSU administration felt that Wade had already been dishonest with them and wanted to prevent him coming in and just lying to them again.

Wade’s lawyer will not agree to any meeting with the LSU administration with the NCAA present unless Wade is somehow inexplicably clean on the apparent violations (unlikely).

So unless the LSU administration drops their request to include an NCAA representative in the meeting, it’s probably never happening.

Unless, and this is reasonably likely, the NCAA would prefer for this to all go away for all schools.

I disagree.

Wade's new lawyer is going to make LSU and the NCAA both an offer they can't refuse.

Updated. Special thanks to esteemed internet user beaver for posting the story from Yahoo.

quote:

After LSU coach Will Wade's indefinite suspension from the school on March 8, FBI agents were in Baton Rouge investigating his recruiting tactics, multiple sources told Yahoo Sports. That included a Louisiana-based FBI agent active in Baton Rouge the following week, conducting in-person work regarding Wade.

The FBI made clear its interest was speaking specifically about Wade, according to a source. The FBI's interest in Wade's recruiting tactics could potentially signal an expansion in the federal basketball corruption case. An FBI agent who was in Baton Rouge declined comment when reached by Yahoo Sports. The agent referred questions to New Orleans field office public affairs specialist Craig Betbeze, who did not return multiple requests for comment. Nicholas Biase, spokesman for the Southern District of New York, declined comment.
