Guys name is Harvey Updyke, retired state trooper from Texas.
Why is it that every time a tree gets poisoned in this country, people go out of their way to blame a Texan? I for one am sick of it. Obviously, this man is a victim of rampant Anti-Texanism related to tree poisonings.

Not at all... I find what he did reprehensible. I just think that if I realized something I cared about so much was being killed by "tradition", I wouldn't keep doing it.
Gotcha. Can't really disagree.

Texans are idiots and we should give them back to Mexico?

The trees are 130 years old and could have lived another 50 years under the conditions they were exposed to. All that to say, I think your fan bias is causing you to overstate the effect of the pressure washing. JMO.

I'm not saying that AT ALL. I think Auburn should have made a trust and gone to steps to protect them long ago. You can't replace trees that old, nor can you replace the memories that come with them. I was sick when I heard yesterday.

If you don't mind - could you throw a couple of those news links in your original post?
Thanks.

If you Aubs didn't worship a frickin tree, then we wouldn't have to hear about all this bullshite.

Typically you are better than this.

An article I read yesterday said that this guy put so much poison in the ground that it is unlikely anything will grow in the area for at least 5 years:
quote:
The amount of herbicide detected in four samples ranged from 0.78 parts per million - that amount alone described by Auburn as "a very lethal dose" - to 51 parts per million.

You better hope so.
FWIW - that is usually frowned upon on this board.

I think you are missing the point. No one worships the tree it is just a focal point to one of the main traditions at the school and it destroyed by a man from our rivals fanbase.

And if y'all didn't worship a dead man, the rest of us wouldn't have to look at fricking houndstooth.
WE ALL have out own traditions - stop bashing theirs because they're different from yours.
Some of you people are flat out ignorant, or you just fricking love to stir the pot - either way, I wish those of you that fit into one, or both, of those categories would waste time on another site.
