Deciding to see the Gators come out within driving distance and I'm really excited about this trip.

Going cheap on tix so sitting in the uppers but still looking forward to watching the game at a road venue. Plus it'll be my first time to Arkansas.

Questions: Things to see pregame? Also, any favorite outdoorsy stuff to do the next day or so after the game? I'll be there Fri night-Monday. Any advice would be great.

If we need to move this to offtopic board, feel free too.

The tailgating is wierd, but Dickson St is cool. I enjoyed Fayetteville, but it was different for sure. You will have a good time

Cool. I'll have to look into that area pre/post game then.

It'll be nice to see somewhere new. CFB vacations are actually kind of neat (WG Dawg has posted some of his on MSB and here).

Since you're there for a while, definitely dedicate a night to dickson street. I'm sure it's probably changed some since my last visit but it is awesome. If you're still young enough to pull it off, I'd suggest Friday since there should be some gators out as well and spirits will be high for all.

I believe you will come away with a new appreciation for fayetteville, I know I did after my first trip. Dickston street is KINDA (not exactly, just kind of a comparison) like if you took all of downtown athens and stretched it out into a single vertical street. Lots of energy and good bars. It's been ages so I can't remember the main one we went to, but they had different themed shots for each SEC team so obviously we had to get some UGA ones which was neat, and all the shots are served in ice shot glasses so when you're done you just throw it on the ground and smash it.

Also the stadium surprised me. I thought Sanford was the only stadium in the country situated as it is down in a valley below foot level, but RRS is pretty close. As you're walking behind the scoreboard end of the stadium you can definitely peer inside and see the field even from a ways away. The stadium isn't the biggest you'll ever see nor the loudest, but it's a fine SEC stadium. The calling the hogs will get real old though, real quick.

Mid 20s, so I guess I'm the ballpark . I'll probably stay that Fri. night in Fort Smith due to the fact I'll be driving that afternoon.

I'm excited to see a new CFB venue all together. Thanks for the input, WG

As for as outdoorsy things, since Fayetteville/NWA is located within the Ozark "mountain range", there are plenty of places to go hiking, weather permitting. Devils Den for one. There is also the new Razorback Greenway Trail, which is a paved bike/walk/run trail between Fayetteville and Bentonville, if you want to bring your bike and get some exercise. Beaver Lake in Rogers if you want to bring a kayak/boat for fishing. Crystal Bridges museum in Bentonville is considered one of the best free museums in the US

Plenty to do in Fayetteville/NWA. Hope you have a safe, fun trip to the game.

The game is in November, it may be a little cold for camping and outdoors

If you get lucky though, Devils Den is cool and nearby

what he said, don't waste a night in Fort Smith. it's only another 45 minutes to Fayetteville. Friday nights on home game weekends are lit all night, as the kiddies say.

If you are into mountain biking at all, there are some really good amenities around that in the region, within Fayetteville and more within 30 minutes drive.

Hiking, kayaking opportunities are all around, too. Devil's Den St. Park is on your way south, about 20 minutes. Cool hikes and features there.

Put "cross at Mt. Sequoyah" into your map and drive up to that overlook. It's 6 blocks off the town square, but straight up a little mountain that sits in the middle of town. You will "get" Fayetteville once you see the view from up there.

WGDawg gave you good advice and you've decided to stay in Ft. Smith. Might as well stay home.

I know WG provided great tips and i still haven't booked any thing at the moment.

I'm still working on that trip but I'd have to leave TX earlier and make it to Fayetteville. Apparently not as far between the two as I thought.

Dickson is about 1/5th the size of Mizzou's downtown bar scene, which makes it a fun but intimate experience.

A few thoughts:

Fort Smith-is ok and I've stayed there a number of times but with Fayetteville as my destination and less than an hour away I wouldn't opt to stay in Fort Smith unless I wanted to visit one of the Oklahoma Indian casinos in the area (Choctaw or Cherokee).

Trails-The multi-use Lake Fayetteville Trail is good, easy and doable if you don't have much time LINK , the Mount Kessler Trails provide scenic hiking opportunities LINK , the Razorback Regional Greenway Trail is a great trail consisting of many different individual trails and segments so you can do as much or as little as you want, and at about 36 miles long it takes you through the heart of NWA including Fayetteville; it's multi-use and great to bike on LINK , and then there are trails around Crystal Bridges.

Dickson Street-the hub of activity in Fayetteville on a weekend or at any other time for that matter; you'll want to spend some time there at the restaurants, shops, and pubs. You can walk to the stadium from there and I've done it many times as it takes you through campus. You just have to give yourself a little time and enjoy the stroll.

Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art-in Bentonville, it has to be on top of the list of things to see with a visit to the area; it also has trails around it on the outside. LINK

Arkansas Missouri Railroad-I don't know if you could fit this into your schedule but this passenger train has different length routes beginning at Springdale and going through the mountains toward Fort Smith. LINK . It's scenic and fun and great when fall colors are peaking. With Nov. 12 as the game date the colors may be mostly gone based on most years LINK but watch and see as it's an option of something to do.

Weather-you can have nice November days where you can comfortably engage in outdoor activities . For example, though it is a long way off, the prediction for that game weekend is highs in the mid-upper 60's and lows in the mid-40's. LINK . NWA is generally cooler and more windy than the rest of the state.

If you like to go hiking, Devil's Den is cool, like others have said...but honestly, if I were coming to this area for the first time and I could go anywhere within a reasonable drive to go hiking, camping, etc, I would definitely drive the hour and a half or so East of Fayetteville into Newton County and explore the Upper Buffalo Wilderness area.

It's the nation's first protected river, and is a real gem. You won't find prettier scenery anywhere in the US.

Dickson street is cool I guess if you're into the nightlife stuff. Usually some good bands in town...check who is going to be playing at George's Majestic Lounge that weekend if you're into that sort of thing.

Good food at Hugo's, Bordinos, Herman's and Whole Hog Cafe.

It should be noted, to folks that have never been, that campus sits directly on top of a hill. Dickson and RRS both sit on opposite sides and at the base of that hill. That walk from Dickson to RRS is scenic and definitely doable but by no means flat so definitely budget time as needed.
