How Louisville ended.

Doubt it. If I were one of the Arky players with a red shirt remaining, I would be absolutely livid. Firing a coach after game 5 is the biggest bait-and-switch ever pulled in this era. Huge disrespect.

Don't appeal to emotion. Don't try to manipulate your way out of the reality that a two win season and being fired is a data point on the board.
I'm not saying he's definitely been passed. He's actually who I want as coach. I said I'm afraid it might have happened and you asked for evidence. Louisville is evidence.

Ok dude. I'm sure it was just a massive coincidence.

His final season at L'ville had a seven-game losing streak, and his final season at Mizzou State had a five-game losing streak.

Sure thing lol is this the same Petrino that went 28-28 his last five seasons as a head coach and is 65 years old now? Arkansas fans are fooling themselves, this isn’t the same Petrino of 2010

The NIL era has dramatically changed college football and its a much different landscape than when he last coached at Arkansas or Louisville. Having to constantly re-recruit players which is something Petrino isn’t particularly good at but could recruit to his system. That is irrelevant now

We all know that this is a gamble. Why not roll the dice?

Yep, I'm jealous that they got rid of their dead weight coach and we still have ours

Stoops is a good coach and had some very good teams. He hasn’t embraced the new landscape and what you need in a head coach today. With all the demands, I expect more coaches to call it quits in their 50’s, early 60’s. I doubt Saban would have success in this environment. Coaching is a young man’s game unless you have unlimited budget.

That is probably a good thing.

Petrino won't put up with that lazy defense Saturday. He will chew their arse. I saw two runs for TD by ND running backs. They never got touched. Ran through 11 players. Ridiculous lack effort

Because even IF it pays off, he isn’t coaching into his 70’s so it’s a silly risk especially with younger coaches who have had success available. Jamey Chadwell is going to be a great coach for someone

His offense is still pretty potent when his guys aren't mailing it in. And this offense is composed of a bunch of G5 transfers. It's all going to depend on what sort of financial resources they can give him moving forward if he ends up being the guy. In order to be the guy he's going to have to get this particular team to play like the team that had Ole Miss beat before fumbling on their goal line. And it wouldn't hurt to get some effort out of the defense.
I'm not the biggest fan of Petrino, but if you think he can't win football games you're fooling yourself. With the right budget to work with he could absolutely kill it. And honestly, the new game with NIL might actually benefit him as a coach since it makes the game more business like and requires less charisma to recruit players.

They will assemble significant nil if they announce petrino. Chicken and egg thing.

I agree with Rip Torn. Petrino is a good OC, but it’s not rocket science. A number of OC’s successful with a few years experience. As a head coach I think he’s average. It would be big mistake in my opinion.

Every team says that but the money to even keep increases every season and the guy is in his mid 60’s. He would be the oldest coach in the conference by nearly 10 years.
