Just for reference, last night against Mississippi St. Volantis had 12 Ks in his 6 innings. Sam Cozart entered in the 9th and struck out 3 State batters on 12 pitches. Texas pitching had 19 Ks against State.

I guess Arkansas can think what they want. Conference stats comparison below, and Auburn staff has better numbers than either Texas or Arkansas. There must have been more to the quote than OP posted.

Texas Arkansas
3.60 ERA 5.61
1.19 WHIP 1.58
187.1 IP 191.0
261 SO 202
72 BB 94
151 H 207
13 HR 38
75 ER 119
20 HBP 20

Fine, OK, swell. Volantis has similar numbers as a sophomore, but that's OK.
OP mentions pitching staffs, but you can go on about Dietz if you want to, Hoss.

Volantis has 80 K's Dietz 100. This is Dietz first year pitching since HS 2 years ago and he's going to go high first round. So yes, I will go on about him. He's awesome.

Dietz has one more game than Volantis. Volantis start against aggy was rained out. Like I said similar numbers except for ERA and HRs given up.

Didn’t Texas have 20+ strikeouts in one of the games against Alabama? And Alabama won the game?

ETA: I just went and looked at boxscores. Texas had 17 strikeouts in a 10-2 win, 19 in a 3-1 win, and 13 in a 2-1 loss.

Alabama is a pretty poor hitting team, but still 49 strikeouts in a 3 game series is bananas.

The number of people who missed the joke in this thread is both sad and an indictment on the state of the SEC rant.

Excellent tweet.

That guy can absolutely sling it. I was watching last night and that dude is different. Is he always that consistent or did he have a really good night?
