Gilbert won't be a first round pick unless he learns to actually block. He's the biggest pussy I've ever seen at that size. Quit because the game was too "physical" for him last year, and cannot even hold onto the football against somebody significantly smaller.

Overrated.

Maybe, I'm not the one who scouted and rated him though.

The reaction LSU fans are having to the news Gilbert is returning is truly something special. He's obviously a distraction. He's soft, looking for a handout, doesn't make the grade, and doesn't want to be at LSU. He came back because no one else wanted his sorry arse or could get him eligible.

Congrats LSU!

Blocking isn't going to be his biggest hurdle. Staying committed the next 2-3 years will be. He's already got big red flags after what's transpired off the field the last 6 months with him. If he can get his head on straight, he will be scouted just like Pitts, albeit not as fast as Pitts. He's going to be marketed like a huge WR that is a matchup problem for defenses

And fwiw, he didn't quit because he was worn out. That was what he told everyone to avoid the reality that he was acdemically inelgible. He "opted out" right after fall semester finals, and as we've come to find out, has a lot of work to do to get back in good academic standing to be eligible for the 2021 season.

But for all this talk about him being a pussy, I think some of you are forgetting that the kid was a true freshman last year. Did you expect him to be an AA immediately with no real offseason to prepare for the season? Not to mention our team sucked arse last year. A lot harder to shine when the team sucks. But his numbers were actually better on a per game basis than Moss' were in 2019, so there's that.

All that aside, I'm not a huge fan of him coming back personally. I'd rather the kids who have been busting their asses every week and not being a head ache and distraction. I can rely on themn. I can't rely on Gilbert.

Agree he is a large WR. That is typically how LSU uses him as well. Most TE's and FB's I know do the dirty work to block and make the team successful, but this kid is definitely not that.

Kid has a ton of red flags. Gifted athlete at WR though

Another concern is how poorly Gilbert tested in athletic measurements. He ran a 40-yard dash in 4.91 seconds, and his vertical jump was only 30 inches

Is this accurate? That is terrible.

Are you going to do all True freshmen from 2020 or just random ones?

also, LSU's D was worst in LSU history. Gave up 45 TDs. 44 of those were not A&M.

Most teams don't even use a FB anymore, and "tight ends" have changed so much over the past several years, it's as if most teams don't even carry a true tight end like we think of the position. Think about some of the better ones that have come through this conference the past decade. Very few of them were particalrly known for doing the dirty work and/or blocking. They're meant to be athletic big guys that LBs can't run with in coverage and corners are too small to cover. Works the same way in the NFL these days too for the most part. I mean I get it. When offenses are built around throwing the football and not running the football, things change a bit with position expectations. Guys like David Lafluer are things of the past

18 years old. Why should his development be on your timeline? When had TAMU ever had a kid Dev that quickly on offense? This goes for all freshmen. Some of you are stupid AF.
