Well that may explain why I like you better than most of the Mizzou Rant posters.

I get your point tho as childhood teams are hard to overcome and it is cool you kept that as a part of you. If Vanderbilt had my major back when dinosaurs roamed the earth it would have been my first choice for college. My grade school sweetheart went there as did family and friends. The one thing I like is the timeless of the 3 primary sports venues and their close proximity. It is totally old school in an age of massive venues and corporate mentality. It is creeping into Vanderbilt, but thankfully at a slow pace. Not sure what years you went there but Memorial is like a throwback to the 60's and 70's when Stokley was still the home of the Vols. Lots of memorable games.

So separating Vanderbilt from the city, did you not enjoy the city of Nashville itself?

ps, I did appreciate your post on the orphan sports and your point of view and explanation. I may not agree, but at least now understand your thinking.

Hard to say. They've not really been what most would call "good" very much during the Internet era.

Yeah Nashville as a city was a big part of what drew me there no doubt. Was there during the late 90s. I did like Memorial Gymnasium games in particular, terrific set up. Kentucky-Vandy was always a great basketball game to see in person.

And of course, that was the Tennessee Peyton Manning era, when our own damn stadium would become 95% orange for the "rivalry" game and......well, and here I am years later talking shite at Vol fans in a thread. Hmmm.

ISWYDT

Rivalries really work best when they run close to 50 / 50. If one side dominates too much not good for excitement level on either side. What did you get your degree in?

Went to Vandy, angry about stadium being orange, there during Manning years... hmm... Legit question.

Mizzou fans looking down on UT fans, smells of irony. Lot of perfect storm/luck swirling around in Mizzou in the last two years. How quickly they forget their virgin voyage in the SEC. 2-6 in conf if I recall correctly. I'd be concerned with both Arky and UT if I were them. Mount Milk Toast might get shocked.

With that said them coming in to our conf was brilliance and the program is in perfect shape. Lot of talent around them with no real programs to recruit against. Especially if the recruit wants to play in a real league but not head South.

Cock and balls, apt name.

So, winning the east last year and being in position to do so again this year is a perfect storm/luck, but our only losing season in a decade is not? Interesting theory.

Anyway, Saturday will be very interesting. Dobbs seems improved, but this is a team that... let's just say they know how to lose.

Let me clear this up for all of you.

First things first, Missouri doesn't have rivals in the SEC, why? Because still no one cares that they are in the SEC.

Second, well actually there is no second because one was enough. Sorry Mizzou everyone else has teams who care when they play each other, you simply do not anymore. My advice, schedule kansas every year and dominate the Jayhawks in what could be an exhilarating rivalry.
