“There is no way that would happen to a fully motivated and focused Alabama team”

Now granted Alabama was coming off the Georgia win and was in perfect position for a let down. But Bama never has a let down and always rises to the occasion. Don’t they?

State will back to relevance in the coming years and we will be solid again.

And I see someone is whining about the cowbells. As if cowbells win football games.
When we were a losing program back in the 1950’s, 1960’s and early 1970’s nobody complained about the cowbells. In 1974, we had 9-3 season with a Sun Bowl win.
Whiny Shug Jordan Auburn’s Coach cried about the cowbells (even though Auburn beat us 24-20 that year). As a result, cowbells were banned for 36 years. In 2010 the SEC reinstated the cowbells under regulations. And I would say 99% of our fans respect the rules (but there a few knuckleheads that don’t).
And since then it has worked well. They are here to stay.

Moorhead was 2-0 vs OM and we fired him

Against Matt Luke and a team on probation, yeah. Congrats on those wins.

Leach had State better than OM in 2022, then he died.

This is true. But what about 2020 and 21? Certainly y’all wouldn’t have gone 11-2 in 23 even if Leach was alive.

quote:

Every time OM gets good for a few years they think they are a dynasty, that they have always been great, and always will be great. Happened under Steve Sloan, Billy Brewer, Tommy Tuberville, David Cutcliffe, Ed Orgeron, Houston Nutt, Hugh Freeze, and now Lane Kiffin. Then they return to normal. "Oh, but it's different now."

Typical little brother post. I never said anything about Ole Miss and it’s the only thing on your mind.

Leach’s death certainly set the program back but unfortunately he was also not recruiting well at all. Those 2020-2023 State teams were overwhelmingly led by Moorhead signees. I don’t know if Lebby is any good or not but there is no question the roster he inherited last year was the worst State roster in at least 20 years. They didn’t have a single player even invited to the NFL combine from last year’s team. And that falls largely on the poor recruiting of Leach/Arnett/their staff.

State is at least 2-3 years away from being a legit threat to get back to that 8-4 range that Mullen kinda lived in and Leach hit in his final year. The roster talent still just isn’t what it was even at State a few years ago. Lebby is going to have to show incremental progress the next couple of years for HS recruits and legit portal talent to start taking State somewhat seriously again. Their current recruiting class has 26 commits and is ranked in the 40’s or 50’s depending on where you look….. that is not an SEC caliber class. Don’t think they have a single four star committed.

I think Lebby will turn State into a solid program.

Hey a-hole you can't just claim titles. The weird thing is you actually have to win them. Ole Miss claims numerous things they have never done.

Go undefeated then come back and chat. Hell just win 6 games then come back and talk!

A legendary coach who ran a highly specialized unique offense that literally no one else runs that he spent 4 years recruiting and building up for… combined with the college football landscape having the most change in 100 years ushered in during this time. As well as playing at 4 playoff teams. Yikes

“ It would be those horrible cowbells. They are ridiculous. Can’t understand why the SEC allows them to ring those stupid things since apparently no one else in the conference is allowed artificial noisemakers.”

This is who I was responding to with the cowbell remark. I just rambled a bit and hit on several different subjects.

They went 2-10 last year and weren’t even close to getting to 3-9. Nine losses by double digits, and the one single digit loss was a game where they trailed 30-3 basically until garbage time.

If we are counting ties, that opens up a lot!

Print all the cups you want. Just make sure they’re solo cups.

Let’s stay on topic. I know that’s hard, but if we try really really hard, we can do it!

The topic is how much State fricking blows.
