I guess "you salty" is the new "you mad" when not being able to handle getting called out on your bullshite? Thanks for the clarification.

Who is whining? We got beat. It happens in the tournament. I'm rooting for y'all the rest of the way. What the frick is the argument even about here?

I'm shocked this somehow turned into a moronic flame war. Simply shocked!

What is the overall feeling of Big Blue Nation? What should be the overall feeling?
I'm disappointed over previous seasons than this season, although losing to IU is painful to say the least.
With Cal's way of doing this, this is what you get. Most of the time, your most talented players are freshmen, and sometimes you face an senior led team like IU and you tighten up toward the end, and you lose.
With all the talent that has come thru in the Cal era I would have thought we should have more national titles. Should have won in 2009, made it to the final four in 2011 which was unexpected, but ended up being the most talented team there and lost. In 2014 the season was average, but surprisingly made it to the title game, and again lost to a less talented team.
Last year had the most talent ever on one team and still didn't win.
No question Cal has done great things, but we should have at least four titles in the seven years, and we have one. I'm disappointed, but Cal and his coaches do amazing things in recruiting, so with the way the NCAA and the NBA handle freshmen, it's just the way it works. It's not just UK, any top talent will leave after one year. The money is too great.

That's my point, they kept tubby around for a very long time despite not getting close to another championship.
Not quite true. Went into the 2003 tourney as the #1 overall seed.

Good stuff - thanks!

And they stayed 4 years. Can you imagine if Cal still had players from last year on this year's team. Easy title winner.
Every year, UK loses 80% of it's scoring, and they they continue to get to the Final Four almost every year.
That is amazing.

Yea, Kentucky was a Top 10 team until Tubby's last 2 seasons. And, if I remember correctly, a lot of people wanted him out after his first subpar year.

UK is typically singled out because of the sheer numbers each year. Seven players from last year's team left, the top seven scorers.
Cal literally has to rebuild every year. It's just the way it works when you recruit the top talent in basketball. In football, you have more players to absorb any attrition.

I agree. I am always impressed with how well Cal's teams play as a team, how hard they play and how well they play defense. Those things are incredibly hard to teach a frehsman how to do and Cal does it every year.
He's an incredible recruiter and coach. I just feel like, as someone who supports a program similar to Kentucky in football, that there would probably be some level of frustration after having all those players and being so close so many years. If there wasn't, you wouldn't be Kentucky.

I feel like we have missed some opportunities for sure, I suppose last year would be the best example. And I think Cal made mistakes in the last 4 minutes of that game.
After going back and forth, we finally got a 6 point lead, and he took the air out of the ball. We then went 3 straight possessions and had 3 shot clock violations.
Wisconsin was sucking wind at that point, and he should have put Ulis in and had him run them up and down the court. Instead, we slowed the game down, they hit 3's late, and passed us.
But I think 2009, 2011, and 2014 and 2015 are missed opportunities, especially 2011 and 2014 as by the time they got there, they should have won. 2009 and 2015, they were the most talented team by far.

Wooden won a million in a row. 1 out of 7 is piss poor even if you are right that it's slightly easier to win in football

I don't remember that specifically, but the last 2 seasons with double digit losses and faded recruiting was certainly talked about by fans, but he wasn't going to be fired, he chose to go ahead and leave for Minnesota to get out of the heat, and I don't blame him at all. It's a lot of money, but also a very grueling job.

UK has 8 total over several decades and several coaches. Rupp himself had just 4 over his 42 year career at UK with undoubtedly as much talent in comparison to his competition as Calipari does now.
In non-UK comparison, it's taken Coach K 36 years at Duke to win 5. The bulk of those coming after he was already at Duke a decade.
The numbers among active D-1 coaches:
Mike Krzyewski (Duke): 5
Roy Williams (UNC): 2
Rick Pitino (UofL): 2 (1 at UK)
Jim Boeheim (Syracuse): 1
Larry Brown (SMU): 1 (Kansas)
Steve Fisher (San Diego State): 1 (Michigan)
Tom Izzo (Michigan State): 1
Kevin Ollie (UConn): 1
Bill Self (Kansas): 1
Tubby Smith (Texas Tech): 1 (Kentucky)
Rollie Massimino (Keiser): 1 (Villanova)
IMO, top talent or not, it's unreasonable to expect that many titles while discounting how tough it is to win one. People's expectations of a title every other year is completely infeasible.

Absolutely right. It makes Wooden's run at UCLA that much more impressive and unfathomable.

The one and done means UK is all in, the problem is when you go up against a team with jr and sr talent that makes it tough. The mid majors love the one and done rule. It's great for them at least early in tournament.
Same thing with baseball, roster limits brought parity to the game. The bigger schools couldn't hedge on who goes pro out of school and they miss out on some of the other prospects because of the 35 man roster limit.

If basketball had the dumb idea to take computers and voters and come up some confusing system to have a one game national championship, Calipari would have more titles.
Bama would have crushed that shitty Seminole team last year and that would have been the natl champ game but since they have playoffs now and other teams became involved Bama got beat before they even got to champ game. If it ever goes to 16 teams you will not see this type of dynasty. Its just tougher and it relies on actual playing of the game and not just what people think. And computers for frick sake. I still cant believe people take the BCS seriously.
Those people must love gymnastics and figure skating or the slam dunk contests or beauty pageants
