With all of the talk about who has the hardest schedules between the SEC and Big 10, I did a deep dive on the number of ranked teams that are on the schedules of each Top 25 team. 9 SEC teams play at least 5 of the top 25 teams, whereas the Big 10 has 6. Of the teams who play at least 6 top 25 teams, 4 are from the SEC compared to 2 from the Big 10.

Below is the complete list of AP top 25 teams with the number of other top 25 teams that are on their schedules.

(1): Miami, Texas Tech
(2): BYU, Houston, Louisville, SMU, Utah
(3): Iowa, Notre Dame, Penn State
(4): Bama, Georgia, Indiana, Oregon, Tennessee
(5): LSU, Missouri, USC, Washington
(6): Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Texas A&M
(7): Texas

Some Non-SEC takeaways:

-Texas Tech barely made the list as the only ranked opponent is Houston at #23
-Miami's second "toughest" game is Clemson, who is less talented than last year's team that went 7-6
-Tough guy Cig doesn't play a ranked team until mid-October

His non-conference schedules are complete jokes. Last year he got rid of Virginia from his schedule and he just backed out of a ND series within the last week. No doubt he's a great coach but he's a coward with his non-conference scheduling.

There’s zero benefit to playing good teams OOC anymore. Every team that has an admin/coach with a brain is doing this, including yours

Ranked teams ND plays are BYU, SMU, and Miami. No one is scared of 2 of those.

Agreed. 3 worst schedules of the "contenders" are, in some order, Miami, ND, and Texas Tech.
