Anyone got any funny or humorous stories about Saban

Debate the Rant about whether he is really the. Miserable Cranky guy in life that he portrays on TV, etc. I don’t think he really is, but I can think of a single funny story involving Nick, and I really can’t even ever remember him laughing ever while in Baton Rouge, so anyone have any funny Saban stories or is that an oxymoron

I had a professor at LSU who was invited, along with his wife and other couples, to Sabah’s camp for a weekend get away. He said they had a blast.
Later that next week he received an invoice for his trip.
So no. Nothing funny.

At 2012 Bama I was tailgating with a friend at the business school (he was getting his MBA). He played for Saban and won a title with the tide in 09. He was working on his MBA at Bama and they had a tailgate event with our MBA students.
He said he was playing pool at Saban’s house and that he kept beating Nick. He said he would try to leave and Saban would convince him to just play one more. This goes on for a few hours late into the night until Terry tells the player to “just lose”. The guy throws the next game and Saban smiles and says all right man thanks for coming over.
It was a small story, no big deal, but I just chuckled. Saban HAD to win and wouldn’t stop until he did.

Almost believable. If you had included an a hour of looking at recruiting film at some point, it would have got me.

Not 100% sure if he was still a student at the time or the context If him being at Saban’s house, but the guy was really nice. Checked out his 09 championship ring. He said Saban (at least early on at Bama) was liked by the players and kept in touch with them. I suppose he isn’t a total dick behind closed doors.

I remember him walking out onto the Super Dome field before 21-0 while Les stood at mid-field and wet himself.

My buddy had power of attorney to buy the apartments behind mathernes on kenilworth for saban. Saban bumped his head at his lake house. It was slightly more serious than the media made it out to be. My buddy thought he was going to be on the hook for the apartments.

True story. 2004 spring game, Lsu is reigning Champs, im walking with my 1.5 year old son down the walkway near the coaches building at the time. A side door opens and Saban and jimbo walk out discussing things. No security at all. I ask Saban to take a pic with my son cause I'm young and a huge fan and LSU just won a natty. Dude says get in line after the game like the rest. I said cmon coach, 1 pic. He says no and never stopped walking. As a protective young dad I was pissed and said frick you man. Jimbo turned and looked at me like I had slapped Jesus. Nick threw up a hand and said preciate ya support. Dude had no fricks to give. I still ain't mad. Man had a job and was doing it.

I have a funny story.
In 2011 Saban and Alabama dominated LSU in New Orleans to the tune of 21-0 and set LSU football back a decade. LSU fans are still nursing the butthurt, even after winning the natty in 2019.

A 28 point victory for LSU would tie the record for LSU vs Alabama.
Which LSU managed to do in...1957 against probably the worst Alabama team in history, coached by Ears Whitworth.

I used to get to campus early for my 7:30am class back when students could park in the Tiger Stadium lot by the Athletic Building. Saban arrived at almost the exact same time as my girlfriend and I every day. So once it happened a few times he started telling us good morning. For most of a semester I got a very friendly good morning from Nick Saban. At the time, I just assumed he was a super nice guy.
My only other Saban story is Jimbo Fisher and Will Muschamp coming to the coffee shop I worked at and they were bringing back Saban a coffee and his one request was that we not use cubes of caramel in it. Even they thought this was funny since caramel is a sauce, but they said they had to ask.
Nothing funny and maybe not even interesting, but it’s all I’ve got.
