Who came up with this shite?

I looked it up and Nebraska is considered a Blue Blood. You gotta be f***** kidding me. This is the dumbest term in all of sports.

The biggest problem with the term are all the people who don't have a clue what it means and then get upset about who is a blueblood.

It means that a school racked up wins in antiquity.

I can name 5 or 6 schools that aren't considered "Blue Bloods" that have been much better programs in modern times than those on that list.

It's a term that needs to find itself to the trash heap of history.

They are the schools that built college football and made it popular. Without them, college football is not what it is today...or was anyway.

Which has a lot to do with racking up wins during the 60s and 70s and building up larger fan bases as a result.

There are 8 teams, they aren't going to change. It doesn't mean shite towards winning games or championships and people put way too much into it. But they often have more resources due to fan base size. That's about it.

Well ... they're the ones who made college football a thing and won the most MNC's back in the day.

So, you wanna redefine "blue bloods?"

They didn't have national championships, and the majority of those schools did not participate in the transition to modern football choosing academics instead.

Anyway, suck a dick you bitter frick.

It’s a term used to make has-been programs still feel relevant. Nothing more. That’s why 3DownSyndrome10 is ITT crying like a fat little girl

The Gophers have seven national championships and three have come since A&M won their only one in 1938. And Missouri has one via a forfeit.

Were their games on AM radio?

This is why you will always be 4th place in football.

No one really gives a shite about this. This is something teenagers and college students talk about but really had no meaning.

Back then players literally died to play the game. They had to be playing for the love of the game because I doubt they much else from it and kept the sport alive. Teddy Roosevelt saved football from the death penalty it was so brutal yet these players still kept it going.

To try to compare anything fairly modern to it is ridiculous.

I don't get what the problem is, considering only 2 blue bloods have yet to make it to the CFB Playoffs. 4 of the blue bloods were just in the semifinals. Also, 5 have won a championship the last 20 years and 7 of them competed for one. (This is if you include Georgia a blue blood program).
