Anyone else surprised there isn't more Mullen buzz regarding State?

Is anyone else surprised there isn't a lot more talk about Dan Mullen potentially being the favorite to return to Miss State?
Personally I feel like Chadwell would be the best hire since he is a proven winner and known to be super creative in his offensive schemes, which will be necessary to compete in a conference where you will consistently have lesser talent than the teams you play, but still shouldn't it be Mullen's job to turn down?

I think there would be buzz if Mullen had any interest in returning to coaching. Pretty sure he is happy doing what he is doing now though.

Moo rehiring Mullen would look like George Costanza climbing the stairs to bump uglies with the gal he already broke up with once.
Pick incoming.

When I made this post I did not expect a Seinfeld reference, but I sure am glad it happened.

Not surprised. Mullens is a multi-millionaire who gets paid to talk about football for 30 mins a week.

Bo Bounds had a poll this morning on his radio show - It was near 50/50 on State fans supporting his return.
Jamey Chadwell seems to be the #1, #2, #3 target. He's making $4 million so we might have to go $7 million to get him.

going back to the well a second time rarely works out like the first. Miss St should be taking a hard look at Lance Leipold. That guy is going to get hired away from Kansas and a lot of ADs are going to look foolish when he continues to win at wherever he ends up.

Does Mullen even have the fire in him anymore? He barely had enough drive to score his dream job which he was promptly fired from. I don’t see him coming back with any renewed vigor after that.

I do think Leipold would be a great hire. However, I am not sure Mississippi State is a better job than Kansas. Only being because the SEC is is about to be such a brutal schedule. Kansas will be in a much easier conference, and any football wins they have at Kansas are house money.

I already posted about this on the coaching board. He has burned too many bridges everywhere he has gone and has a rep of being hard to work with. Love what he did for us and our program but we need to go a different direction.

He’s second fiddle to basketball at Kansas and Mississippi St can pay more. But someone mentioned Leipold to Michigan St and that would make a lot of sense given his ties to the Midwest.

Why hasn't UK rehired Rick Pitino?

I don't know. Maybe not enough suit tailors in Lexington.

The "buzz" generally originates with the agent on orders from the coach (or former coach). Seems he does not want to coach.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was one of the usual stipulations in his contract (and its termination) about taking a new job reducing the money UF owes him. I don't dislike Mullen, but he definitely is a petty little bitch at the best of times. He probably isn't taking a coaching job just to screw the people who made his job difficult and then fired him.

Mullen could be a decent fit for Aggies
He won't have to recruit, the collective will do it for him
