Yeah, because what we have now is working so well.

Actually there's little correlation between tighter gun laws and lower murder rates. Canada has some of the loosest gun laws in the world and also one of the lowest murder rates. Brazil, on the other hand, has extremely strict gun laws and one of the highest murder rates.

Apparently the shooter isn't going to stop if it's an obviously armed person LIKE A COP either.

Crazy person is crazy.

Look, don't get me wrong, I have several guns myself. But my point is that the solution to every shooting isn't "GIVE EVERY MORON A frickING GUN!!!"

The police are some of the most vehemently in favor of the gun laws.

No way.

If you make something illegal, then people who want it will never be able to get it.

Just like drugs.

So we surrender all hope of an immediate response because "nobody would know" what to do? I don't buy that.

Yes. Now. 30 minutes later. The biggest source that it was a cop was Twitter. Time passes, new information comes along. Dumbass.

What you are suggesting would be mayhem and their would be even more shootings. Cops shoot people all the time wrongly identifying a weapon thinking they are in danger.

You are merely speculating and have absolutely nothing to back this up with.

Take an honest look at statistics involving concealed handgun permit holders. What you are claiming simply does not happen in reality.

And using cops as an example isn't very smart- since you are basically agreeing that having more police on campus will not help. And you'd be correct.

Citizens are- and always have been- the real "first responders". As good as our emergency services are, they cannot operate until citizens make the first move.

That's true in every country, too. The difference is, guns are harder to acquire, and the laws and penalties against using them are correspondingly stricter. You can't really argue with the results.

Violent crime in total, especially involving guns, is much lower per capita in every other civilized society on earth.

If every student at Virginia Tech had a gun some "badass" wouldn't go in there starting shite. The more guns the better.

You don't know that. On the surface, it sounds reasonable. But the facts are, unless you are specifically trained to deal with violence, most shy away from it.

I'd bet that hearing gunshots, most people with guns would do pretty much the same as people without them. Namely hunker down and hope to not get involved.

The best course, and it's backed by evidence from many disparate societies around the globe, is that stricter laws against gun ownership and harsher penalties for gun use, deter violence.

Yes, but having those one or two is a better alternative than 30+ dying for no reason imo.

CNB is not saying to give every person a gun. He's saying that people who already have a CC license with their state, should be able to protect themselves on campus as well.

So your argument went from "everyone would go vigilante" to "hide, and hope not to get involved".

You are a hypocrite.

I know, but we're playing hypotheticals here.

Say the one armed student gets shot though? What's that done other than possibly give the gunman another weapon?

I carry one sometimes(not school)

I have one in my car at all times. I have a permit and license. Took me 90 days to get all the certification done(Memphis has strict gun laws) but In a situation such as a school shooting I wouldn't mind being armed, but at the same time when there isn't one human nature tells you that allowing access means people will abuse it,
