The last thing they need is 15 different people exchanging fire in a crowded area like a school building. They don't really have time to tap people on the shoulder and ask who the aggressor is.

CNB, I don't want everyone armed.

When you get a concealed weapon you are taught when and when not to use it.

In the situation AUnite described, it would be perfect. Everyone would be dead by the time the cop got there. In a situation like today, if the gunmen pulled a gun on them, they could hold one up right back. It gives that person a fighting chance.

You people think that if a person has a gun they suddenly go vigilante?

That's retarded.

That's what criminals love to hear - people who don't want ANYBODY having guns. Makes it easier for them to commit crimes knowing there's a greater chance of escaping unharmed.

You think everyone is a good shot and always level headed?

That's retarded.

I'll never understand why colleges have that rule in place.

I have a concealed carry license and I was vetted by the Shelby County Sheriff's Department.

I am not a vigilante by any means, but I have a right to defend myself.

I don't think it has anything to do with who's a good shot or not. We're merely saying the response time is quicker, and citizens can defend themselves easier if they don't have to rely on authorities to get there (much later).

You do realize that a lot of criminals acquire their guns illegally?

If every student at Virginia Tech had a gun some "badass" wouldn't go in there starting shite. The more guns the better.

No, but you seem to think that one armed person could successfully put down an armed person in a high pressure situation with no real training to do so. Ever had to shoot with your adrenaline through the roof, people being shot, people screaming and running everywhere? You are also assuming shooter doesn't have any kevlar etc on...

You don't really have a clue what you're talking about. I'm sorry to be a dick, but its the truth. I'm not saying we need more gun laws, but we don't need armed 20 yr old trigger happy ROTC idiots either.

No Offense, but i go to Memphis this semester. I leave my phone and laptop at home just because I don't want them stolen. It happens many times at that campus. Usually car breakins, muggings, but shootings right off the campus aren't out of the ordinary. I'd rather not have everyone on that campus carrying, because that allows those that don't belong on the campus to carry.

LSU's west campus is right on the edge of the ghetto. Cross Alaska or aster and your smack dab in the ghetto.

So I don't want them carrying , because it allows those shady individuals around the campuses to carry as well.

How much do you want to bet this shooting was again because of bullying. That's what the columbine, Jonesboro, and VT shootings had in common.

Could every armed citizen do that? Probably not, but I bet there would be one or two that could.

As for the kevlar, that's why you only need three shots: two to the chest and to the head.

What state can a 20 yr old carry a gun? I thought it was 21 everywhere.

You mean like Virginia Tech's gun free zone that is adequately protecting it's students and keeping gunmen off of campus?

So you should surrender all chance that you have? I'm sorry but that is naive.

In a perfect, world you are right. If everyone receives proper training and education, and everyone's brain is wired to only use a gun at the appropriate time for appropriate reasons; but you know that's not how it works.

I know that, but you also have to agree that would be one or two out of at least 50 people.

Again 2 in 50 don't send that third round a stray
