If I was a recruit I’d rather play somewhere that won’t quit. That way as a freshman riding the bench I know if the starter opts out I’ll get a shot to show my talent on the field rather than the team say oh well we won’t play without our stars

Huge alumni base in Houston also didn't hurt. But honestly, all these kids have heart. I'd also rather young players get to experience a bowl game than cheat your seniors out of their last postgame like 8-4 did.
