Technically, he'll have to say he didn't know his parents were receiving the money. The NCAA, unlike a court, is allowed to infer. If Manziel says he knew it was his parents getting money they will likely "infer" they gave him some and it will end poorly for him.

Well, I for one hope nothing happens.

I also think that even if Johnny is on the team aTm loses 3 games this year. Maybe more. New oline is the biggest reason and everyone will be ready. He has also not put football as a priority.

The parents loophole has been closed, FWIW. Parents are now considered agents

The Newton loophole is large enough to get pretty near anyone out of trouble if their school plays hardball.

Closed.

It's ridiculous that it was ever a loophole to begin with. I mean, I'm all for the players making money, but if you're trying to stop it but then allow the "I didn't know my dad was getting paid" excuse you should probably get out of the policing game.

Hasn't missed anything football related and paid out of pocket to get additional QB training in California from George Whitfield.

This is wishful, rivalry-fueled thinking.

I'm pretty sure his critics could make a much bigger list. And he's probably annoying his teammates if nothing else.

I don't think so. This is more along the lines of what his teammates are saying:

quote:

@JManziel2 let's ball son.All this bs. If you didn't sign a single thing for anybody they would call you a stuck up asswhole but you do be

@JManziel2 nice and sign stuff for ur fans and they say you gettn paid!Lets wreck shop this season bra!lets Give them sum10 else to cry bout

@JManziel2 try this to see what response you get!Don't sign a single item and see how they hate you then!Breaking News"Manziel has no heart"

That's from Floyd Raven (defensive player for A&M). His teammates got his back.

IDK, a bunch of his teammates are all fired up and defending him on twitter.

Or maybe his teammates are smarter than he is and are choosing not to act stupid on twitter?

If he was my teammate I'd be sick of him by now, and I have a hard time believing there aren't those who don't feel that way. Not saying it's the whole team.

Well, that's you, then.

His teammates support him, though. No denying that.

If this is your attitude then you either 1. Didn't play any higher level of team sports or 2. Was that guy that whined about pt but not actually good enough to get on the field.

Teammates have each others back whether you like them personally or not.

I think it's honestly too early to speculate one way or the other, given that the story is less than 24 hours old. It'll depend on what the NCAA decides is 'sufficient' evidence in this case and what else comes out over the next week or two.

If they can't get anyone to talk, nothing will happen. If they can confirm that money exchanged hands, he gone.

I predict nothing. However at the rate he's going it won't be long till another issue will come up. It's inevitable.

You know, that raises an excellent point.

Given how well he's dealt with pressure and negative publicity so far, has anyone stopped to consider what effect this will have on him? Is he going to go berserk? All-out party blitz, zero fricks given?
