Dear SOG,

As you know, the SEC recently announced that the 2020 football season will be comprised of a 10-game, conference-only schedule that will kick off on September 26. In compliance with state public health guidance, seating in Bryant-Denny Stadium for the 2020 Alabama football season will be socially-distanced resulting in approximately 20% seating capacity. Also, due to guidelines relating to social distancing and large gatherings, tailgating will not be permitted on The University of Alabama campus for the 2020 football season.

Based on your Tide Totals rank, you are eligible to request up to two tickets to one of two mini-plans. The ticket request deadline is Friday, August 28. After the deadline, tickets will be allocated based on Tide Totals priority points as of August 1.

You may opt out of tickets for the 2020 season by indicating your decision on the ticket request form. Please know that opting out of tickets for this season will not impact your TIDE PRIDE membership in the 2021 Alabama football season. This request is for the 2020 season only.

ETC ETC

Anybody else get something like that from other schools? What is everyone else hearing?

The mini plan option is nice to give more folks the option to see games I suppose. How are the tickets priced?

I haven’t heard anything from MSU since they put out the thing in late July about no paper tickets and going ahead and opting out. The governor put out something for high school sports through the end of August limiting attendance at those events to 2 attendees per participant, so players cheerleaders etc get 2. Colleges still at 25% but he says they will continue to discuss it, but he is going to have to get off the pot pretty soon so they can plan for it.

quote:

Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves announced Friday that attendance at K-12 school and extracurricular events, including sports, will be limited to two attendees per participating student. This includes two attendees per player, band member and cast member. The governor’s new executive order, which includes an extension of the statewide mask mandate, will last until Aug. 31.

quote:

Excluded from these attendance limitations will be coaches, directors, teachers, officials, medical personnel, staff/workers and media. “Sports and these other activities are instrumental in the lives of our young Mississippians. They teach discipline and responsibility in a way that can’t be replicated,” Reeves said Friday. “That said, we are living through a pandemic. One of my greatest concerns heading into this school season has been sports and those other events which cause the community to come out in crowds. Twenty-two players on a field is not going to overwhelm a local hospital. Two thousand people in a small school’s bleachers might.”

quote:

Reeves’ new order does not cover attendance at college sporting events. “We will continue to discuss college attendance in the days and weeks to come,” the governor said. Ole Miss and Mississippi State aren’t scheduled to play games until Sept. 26. Southern Miss is scheduled to host South Alabama on Sept. 3 at M.M. Roberts Stadium in Hattiesburg — a 36,000-seat facility. A previous order by Reeves currently limits attendance at college sporting events to 25 percent of capacity.

Yep - it is a credit on our account. They also said they'd refund the donations made to secure the tickets as well, which I wasn't really expecting. In terms of an actual cash payout refund, I'm not sure. I wasn't really interested in that so I didn't read any further. However, I'm sure it's an option.

They handled it basically the exact same way the Braves did - option to roll forward balance and start 2021 exactly the same as you would have in 2020 in terms of seating and all that or a refund.

Have they said anything about visiting tickets? I assume of course there will be zero (for all schools this season) but just curious if they happened to mention anything specifically about it
