Don't worry, Bama still claimed the national title that year.

To be fair, Vandy is also 0-1 being shutout vs. Cumberland with a 6-0 loss in 1903.

And Vandy has interesting losing records such as:

Boston College 1-2
Fordham 0-1
Harvard 0-1
Navy 2-3-2
Northwestern 1-2
Penn 0-1
Syracuse 0-2
Temple 1-2
TCU 1-3
Tulane 17-28-3
Western Michigan 0-1

I think that is the Carlisle Indian School

They were set up to be the "rent a win" for those old Ivy League power teams but wound up getting Pops (aka the Pop of Pop Warner football) and turned into a pretty stout program till the IVY's moved onto easier wins.

Jim Thorpe played there and was probably their best known athlete, but they had others. Dude was the Bo Jackson of the Kitty Hawk jet set.

Now that is a strange one. Made me look it up.

From Wiki
The United States had entered the World War II, and able-bodied men of college age had volunteered for, or been drafted into, the armed forces. “Service teams,” many of which had former collegiate or professional players who had entered the Army or the Navy, played games against the college programs. In 1942, teams were fielded by Georgia Pre-Flight, the Great Lakes Naval Station, Iowa Pre-Flight, Jacksonville NAS, and St. Mary’s Preflight.

A little bit of history I knew nothing about.

I thought it was interesting. Since when does the Rant ever stay on topic? Someone can start a thread trolling Bama and by page 6, there will be an intense discussion about whether or not Adolph Rupp liked lawn jockeys. Sexually, I mean.

Edit: Just so you don't have to look up the thread, the answer was a resounding 'Yes'. Somebody posted compromising pictures.

Yeah, the Pre-Flights (there were multiple ones) and military teams at the time could be dominant since so many top athletes joined the military at the outbreak of the war.

Is thus the same Cumberland that lost 222-0 to Georgia Tech when John Heisman was coaching the Yellow Jackets?
