I don't know. I agree we are not in the conversation for GOAT.
2019 LSU and 2020 Alabama are, imo.
But as I said earlier, it's impossible to say for certain because of different years, opponents and eras.
Sure, you have to go based on how the teams did against the competition.
First there is the element of SoS, which is needed to qualify. That really isn't in question here. Even though Georgia has the weakest schedule of all SEC teams, that's going to change real quick after the SECCG and playoffs. And it's not terrible to start with.
And then it comes down to margin of victory. If a team is dominate on both sides of the ball, that is where it shows up.
I think 2019 LSU has the weakest case. wins of 3 points(Auburn), 5 points(Alabama) and 7 points(Texas). They had one of the best offenses of all time, but their defense straight up let them down.
Alabama's defense let them down in the SECCG.

nearly lost to an LSU squad missing half its players..at home.
Wtf? Old southern drag-racing expression…”run what’cha brung.” Missing players who quit and didn’t want to play is like missing players who quit and went to the NFL. They aren’t there, not on the team, didn’t dress out, elsewhere, not present, absent, don’t count, ciao, gone, out of here. Funny how that works.
Funny how some posters will type a brag about “all that talent and LSU recruits itself, and best recruiting of any State,”
….and then they will turn around and type an excuse that blames “all that missing talent who quit, opted out, faked an injury, or left early for NFL” for a 5-5, or 6-6 season.
Funny how….no, actually it isn’t funny, it is comical.

Nope. 3down10 got it right: 1995 Nebraska. And it's not close.

We might be in the same era, but you're right - it's really hard to compare all 3 teams even with them being in back-to-back-to-back years.
Hell, it's hard to say who had the better defense in 2011 - Alabama or LSU, even though we can agree they were both great in different ways.
All you really have is:
1. How tough was their schedule (in kind-of vague terms)
2. How much they dominated said schedule
If 1995 Nebraska had dominated, say, Mid-American or Big West conferences that year, no one would waste their time including them in a "Greatest Ever" conversation, but once you're talking teams in P5 conferences it gets a bit more wobbly. Rankings are subjective, but probably the best indicator.
Even 2011 was basically a different era, when you look at the rapid evolution of college football offenses.

Kendrick, Smith, Walker, Anderson and Cine are probably all 2nd rounders.
He’s played his last game for Georgia but if the charges are dropped he’ll be drafted in the 2nd round. He’s not the first nor the last college football player with character question marks lol. Aaron Hernandez literally checked every “this guy is suspect” box and still went in the 4th round lol.
