Yet Bama is a good school. All diplomas are watered down now. Yours is not special.

That's because the person actually being able to do the job determines the outcome. These degrees just don't list common sense, problem-solving skills, maturity of thought, and abstract thinking as part of the process.

Real wisdom is rare, it doesn't have an IQ score.

You struggle with following a conversation yet use the word "moron."

I’ve had two go to Bama, one the Auburn and one to the school of hard knocks but they all turned out just fine. What you get out of college is based on what you put into it really. The whole SEC is underrated really. God knows it’s expensive enough.

I didn't mean to start a pissing contest or anything like that, just really grateful.
Again, his advisor went way above and beyond anything I could have ever hoped for in this situation.

This.

It's a broad stereotype, bu traditionally Alabama is the school for the lawyers and businessmen, Auburn is the school where the scientists and engineers go.

It’s just trendy to leave Louisiana because OOS schools like Arkansas, ole Miss and Alabama offer very favorable scholarships or at least waive OOS tuition.

Sometimes when you're a kid you just want to get away from home as well. State of Louisiana has some fine schools (Tulane being a great one imo), LSU included for sure

Yep, exactly. UA like UGA are in a lot of ways, socialite schools. Nothing wrong with that, just the way it is.

This. And there's nothing wrong with that.

Alabama has an underrated nursing school as well.

Bama a is not a reputable school academically and grads are at the bottom of the SEC on the list of income earners after the first 10 years after graduating.
This might be the main criteria to measure degree success with, but to me it’s an iffy one. Lot of people go to the university closest to them and stay there because of family, connections, whatever. Nothing wrong with that.

LSU ranks at the top with Vandy, UF and aTm as far as top bread winners!

Not everyone wants to take the highest paying job offer that involves moving to a big city. AL and MS jobs probably pay less, but their cost of living is less. You can likely still live a comfortable life, and be one of the highest earners in your community, but still earn less than somebody in Houston. Some people would rather be a big fish in a small pond than a small fish in a big pond.

My best friend still lives in Alabama and is a UA grad. He's living very comfortably despite making a salary that would be considered "below average" in states like California and New York.

Nothing wrong with that. To me, your earnings pre-tax shouldn’t be the end all be all to measure degree success. Depends what taxes are taken out and other factors, one being cost of living.

Starting to look like my oldest will be there in the Fall. MS State and Auburn are also contenders but Bama is just the full package with the way their engineering school is laid out. Will come down to how many "competitive" scholarships she ends up with when those 3 schools announce those in March. Alabama and MS State have already thrown additional engineering scholarships at us.

Auburn doesn't have enough housing, which was shocking to us. They can't even take a full freshman class on campus.

MS State's out-of-state costs are too high. Their full tuition scholarship doesn't cover the full cost due to out of state costs, and my kid's resume is too great to be spending a dime on tuition. Sad for a school that is closer to where we live than most of the in-state schools here in Alabama. That school was our favorite but it just isn't worth spending anything on tuition.

I would say a degree is important to have, but the most important aspect of post graduation employment is who you know.

The co-op programs at these engineering schools is pretty appealing for this aspect. Graduate with a year of work experience and connections you don't typically get.

Thanks for the great laugh with the post! Only Bama students think this even though they are at the bottom of income earners compared to the rest of the SEC. It’s all about what hiring managers think. And they obviously don’t think much of Gumpville or Bama students simply can’t accel in their jobs overall. Pick one LOL
