Bama a is not a reputable school academically and grads are at the bottom of the SEC on the list of income earners after the first 10 years after graduating.
LSU ranks at the top with Vandy, UF and aTm as far as top bread winners!

When you come into a positive thread like this and act like a complete prick for absolutely no reason, you inadvertently confirm several stereotypes that we were told in advance about Texas fans.
Read the room.

Try to stay out of jail this weekend Stephen.
But just in case.

Is this not a discussion board? So only sports are relevant to discussing facts and speaking about our universities academics is out of line?
Read the previous message, I said the OP message is awesome and I think anyone pursuing higher education regardless of where it is should be applauded. I have a child who is not going to my alma mater so I know the feeling and I am sure Bama like many other universities offer a lot of very cool, unique, and exciting things for their undergrads.
HOWEVER, Bama is not a great or even good academic university and everything I have stated in earlier posts backs that up.
Sorry to piss in your Cherrios.
With the amount of absolute disgusting things I have read on SEC Rant didn't realize me pointing that out would confirm a stereotype lol.
With that said, you are right wasn't the time or place to point that out and again (as I said earlier) congratulations to the OP for his childs achievements.

Ole Miss is a wonderful University. I’d highly recommend entertaining the thought of sending your child there.

I would say a degree is important to have, but the most important aspect of post graduation employment is who you know.
That being said, i graduated from alabama and i would hope my daughter would get into a top 20 school (if thats what she wants to do).

You just had to be that guy didn’t you? I was enjoying this thread, everybody was being nice. And then along comes the guy from Texas. Sheesh!

Back before we had NIL - the lower the academics, the more likely a school was to cheat.
Bottom line, of all things to talk about in the SEC, I would stay far away from akkadimmicks.

I guess it depends on what you consider "good". The metrics and measurable data says Alabama is an average school overall with a few above average areas like Accounting, Business, and Mass Communications. Alabama's strength relative to the school overall is in its grad programs. The Manderson Business school MBA is routinely ranked in the 50 to 65 range every year (above average) and the law school is great just below elite ranking in the #25 to #40 range nationally in recent years. UA's medical school established in Birmingham for years (and basically co-opted years later by UAB) ranks as high or even higher than the law school.
Alabama may have been somewhat below average 35 or 40 years ago but has been above average and solidly in the mid range of current SEC schools since the turn of the century. It certainly isn't the diploma mill you seem to be implying it is.

The irony of Texas fans sh##ing on the SEC academically is that in the recent past you guys used the SEC's supposed inferior academics as an excuse to duck the opportunity to join the league despite the fact that for years SEC schools top to bottom have ranked higher academically than Big 12 schools.
Texas was far and away the top ranked school academically in the Big 12. However, Texas is at best tied for 2nd academically with Florida and just barely ahead of both Georgia and A&M. The SEC schools top to bottom are ranked considerably higher academically than the schools in the Big 12 conference that Texas left.

I still find it funny the horrible things I have read here about sports that is said from almost every fanbase BUT when it comes to academics we can't have a discussion about it? Agreed it was a pleasant thread and I should have just kept these facts to myself because it has no relevance to the OP, it was a nice message and thought for sure.
Still find it funny we talk so much shite about every sport under the sun, I hear crazy horrible things about Texas, our fanbase, etc. yet I share facts about where Bama and Ole Miss are ranked as universities and thats crossing the line lol

Thanks for the education, THIS is what I was trying to get out of my comment. Great post and I agree it appears Bama has improved drastically the past 20-30 years, I bet part of that is the Football dominance.

1) Sports is based on conjecture, Academics is based on truth. When you insult with conjecture it means nothing, when you insult with fact you have cut deep.
2) Sports are not a reflection of personal status, and are not taken that way. Just the opposite when you start talking school prestige and where people went.

If you have a son that just wants to party and has a 28 ACT Feel free to tell hin to apply at Bama. They have no problem taking your son to the cleaners with little scholarship merit.

However, just like I dont pretend Texas has the history or is the football program that Bama is, dont pretend that Bama is a "great" academic school at large
I don't see many people calling Bama a "great" academic school. So that being stated, I will just add that I always laugh at the implied delusion in sentiments like the above. You are stating or at least implying that UT provides a great academic experience for their students that is fundamentally different than that which is found at the Alabama's of the conference. UT is obviously a better school than Alabama, but I will contend that the only school in the conference that provides an education across the board that is worth bragging about is Vanderbilt. Let's be honest: if you have a football program that can consistently compete in the SEC the floor at your school is fricking LOW. If you think anyone in industry is impressed that someone simply got a degree in Austin, you are clueless and delusional. Now, schools like UT, A&M etc do amazing research and that can't be said about most schools. And that research is absolutely something to be proud of as an alum. But does that benefit the average student in any tangible way? No. Whether in Austin, Baton Rouge, or Tuscaloosa, education is what one makes of it.
