Go with it for arguments sake, but lets just say Saban comes out and announces hes retiring after the season.

If the Bama job were open and Dabo announces hes staying at Clemson, who would you think Bama would target this offseason?

Normally youd say its a top 3 college job, but im curious if a coach would be hesitant to be the guy who follows Saban?

Wonder if theyd go for a big name vs a young up and comer like the Troy, UAB, Utah St, UNT guys.

I'd take Bill Clark, the UAB coach, in a heartbeat.

How pissed would you be if we hypothetically reached out to Les.

While I wasn't around to verify it for myself, I recall hearing that Ray Perkins emphatically didn't want to follow the Bear and basically had to be heavily pressured into accepting the job. True?

You mean the guy who took an elite Saban built program and gradually erased the championship culture with poor offensive recruiting strategy, refusing to fire his barbecue buddies, and sticking to his 1970’s Michigan offense? Man I’d be so pissed if Alabama snatched him from all the teams clamoring for his services right now

Who ever takes the job will have a huge set! The slightest little drop in success, which would be 10-2 and they will break the pitchforks out.

I don't know who they'd target but I would want Mike Leach.

Honestly if Dabo says no (and I think he would), I'd bet Will Muschamp would end up being the hire. There aren't many established big names in CFB right now, and even fewer who would leave a great situation to replace a legend. Muschamp has Saban ties, has major HC experience, is defensive minded, still young, and has proven he can recruit the south. He wouldn't be a terrible hire. Yea the UF situation didn't go well, but he took over a dumpster fire that still hasn't found a QB.

Coaches have big egos. It would be hard for anyone to turn down Bama's roster.

I think the big thing would be if Les won multiple titles at Bama as well. The LSU fan base would all jump into the bay simultaneously

I don’t love going after a guy like Brohm, Leach, Babers, or Pat Fitzgerald because it’s a whole different animal being at a big time program where you get the other team’s best shot each week. Some guys thrive because underdog programs are naturally more motivated

I’d call a more established guy like Bob Stoops, Petersen, or James Franklin (even though I think he is pretty meh as an in game coach

Fitzgerald is NW alum and Brohm is going to L'ville. Leach is a strange bird, something tells me he'd rather hang out in Pullman. Babers is legit but he's also high up in age.

Matt Campbell is a good candidate. So is UAB's Clark and Troy's Brown.

That's why we pay the AD the big bucks. I assume he's already has his list put together.
