Correct the first Committee was on record as stating they will value a conference champion first if records are the same.

If Bama gets in over a 1 loss conference champ than any undefeated team should refuse to play in the conference championship game from that point on. They would have NOTHING to gain from playing that game and could lose everything due to an injury to key players.

Take this scenario for example.
Imagine for a moment that this year they ignore conference championships and put Bama in (not going into the results of the playoffs because they don’t matter for this discussion).

Next year we are in the same situation. LSU is going into the SECCG undefeated. Let’s say in that game (pretend for a moment we have Burrow back or Brennan is putting up just about as good of numbers) our QB gets a season ending injury. While we still might make the playoffs, our chance of winning would be drastically cut down. It’s unfair to require a team to play an extra game and risk injuries. So IF they ignore conference championships this year, conference championships should be done away with.

Because this KEEPS coming up, here is the absurdly unlikely scenario it would take for Alabama to make it:

1. Undefeated Clemson (easiest path at this stage)
2. Undefeated LSU (If LSU loses to UGA in the SECCG, no way Alabama goes)
3. Undefeated Ohio State (with a particularly brutal dismantling of Minnesota absolutely required in the B1GCG OR Minn loses to Wisconsin OR Iowa AND loses B1G CG)

Then:
Big 12:
Oklahoma beats Baylor, loses to Okie State
Texas beats Baylor
OU wins Big 12 with 2 losses

Oregon loses to either Arizona, ASU, or Oregon State
OR
Utah loses to UCLA or Arizona (they're not losing to Colorado)
The team that takes a loss then wins the PAC-12 Championship Game. 2-loss PAC 12 champ.

**OR** (and this is even less likely than all that)

LSU loses to Texas A&M AND either Ole Miss or Arkansas.

all of this is true... You guys are also rooting for us in the SEC title game... if Georgia were to win that, they and LSU would go...

It would be utter BS to reward Bama for playing no one, then losing at home by gifting them a playoff rematch against the number 1 team that beat them.

Regular season has to factor in here. They had their shot at home. It is messed up to have this game again when we already had it. LSU lead the entire game right?

I could understand if it was a rematch because of the sec championship.. but not a division and not when you lose at home.

Now that we have covered this convoluted, "if it you guessed this happening you should have bought a lottery ticket", absurd scenario - can we stop with it all? GEEZ.

tldr. Here's the Cliffs: The criteria and rules for everyone else have never applied to A1abama. Why would they apply now?

Clearly.

As I am stating, the only method in which Alabama gets in is a long string of situations that produce 2-loss conference champs. All of them pretty much including a loss to a team they had no business losing to.

If either the Big 12 or Pac 12 produce a 1 loss champ, they're in. I still see the first three finishing undefeated anyway.

People are just butthurt and not reading your posts

You are spot on. But you may want to go tell your brethren on the Alabama page...

They are convinced y’all are in over a 1 loss big 12/pac 12 team

I avoid all team pages because everyone circle jerks each other, regardless of team. I avoid the PoliBoard for the same reason. So I honestly have no idea what is being posted on TigerRant, the Bama board, et al.

Some? Almost all in that thread say the only way y’all are out is if Baylor stays undefeated

If scenario B happens I'm quitting my job, powerlifting, and never eating any delicious NOLA cuisine ever again. Cuz I'll be dead.

It would take something absurd for it to happen, so I think you're career, hobby and eating habits are safe :)

absurdly unlikely scenario

If Okie State doesn't get upset by 24 pt underdog in double OT, 1/9 never happens.
If Arky doesn't convert a 4th & 25, ole miss goes to the SECCG instead of bama

Its college football. shite that shouldn't happen, does happen. Every single year

This year will be no different

I think A 1 loss OU could get in.

Loss to a decent to good Kansas State

Wins over a decent Texas Team
Decent Baylor Team probably twice.

"Could"?

You think a 12-1 Big 12 champ with 3 ranked wins is only a "could" over an 11-1 non division champ with 1 ranked win?

The bigger debate would be a 1 loss OU vs a 1 loss Oregon or Utah
