My first Alabama/LSU experience was in 1995. We were both good but not great teams, and we played what used to be a classic LSU/Alabama slugfest game. Our season tickets were in the endzone at the end of a row. Across the aisle was the visitor's section, and it usually ended up having students in it for the bigger opponents who had students travel (LSU was really the only one in Tuscaloosa, the other big games were in Birmingham).

The students across from us were having a wild time, drunk as piss but good-natured. 10-year-old SOG hadn't dealt with a whole lot of insane drunk folks before, and definitely not college versions, so he was enamored with these yellow-shirted bros. The game ended in a 10-3 Alabama win, and SOG Sr asks the college boys where they were staying tonight. "No sir, we're getting in the car and driving back to Baton Rouge." SOG Sr told them he hoped they were safe, they responded that they'd go chug some water and be fine. So, if any of you fine Louisiana gentlemen were between the ages of 18-22 in 1995, made a road trip to Tuscaloosa, sat in the South Endzone and then drove back to Baton Rouge that night - it was a pleasure meeting you and I'm glad you made it back down interstate 59 safely.

LSU was my 2nd favorite team behind The King back in the days of Charlie Mac. Not anymore with that fanbase.

For LSU fans, these three games mean the most in the last 15 years:

Alabama
Auburn
Florida

It’s going to be a hard year.

I remember that game and in the spirit of LSU fans bitching about refs, I remember Kevin Faulk making a 1st down late in a game I think on 4th down and getting a crappy spot. Dick Vermeil the old UCLA, Eagles and Rams Coach who won the Superbowl even questioned the spot and I was like See, see, even the announcer saw it. Oh well, LSU did not get the first down to go on to maybe tie the game and ended 10-3.

Sorry you let a fan base affect feelings towards a team.

The only things I remember from that game are

- Some guy on Bryant Drive with Rammer Jammer playing on a boom box on repeat
- The LSU bros
- My idol Deshea Townsend had an interception
- Interstate 59 had a giant wreck that shut it down and we didn't get to Birmingham until like 2 AM

Just to clarify, what “fan base” members have upset you aside from posters on this site?

Family in Louisiana and I lived in New Orleans for a short time. I’m Bama through and through but I honor LSU and its uniqueness. No one In our conference has the culture, the (awful) colors, and the fan base that LSU has.

Ironically, my 1st Bama game was also playing LSU in November of 1982.
Game was at Legion Field in Bham.
It was Bear's last season. As an 9 yr old I remember being an awe seeing the legend himself leaning against the north endzone goal post before the game.
I also remember an already intoxicated but happy LSU fan trying to get my dad to bet with him on the game. Thank goodness he didn't bite the bait.
LSU would win the game, snapping an 11 game losing streak vs Bama.
Bear would take his last breath about a month from winning his last game at the Liberty Bowl that December.

I was in 5th grade and we made the trip and left pissed off. Should've come over to Section AA Row 46 and asked for LaBR4, or had a blast at Sonic after.

AA is the visitor's corner of the endzone (well it was back then). We were in that endzone on the other side of the visitors from AA.

Also damn, $22

Back when a baw and his boy could go to a big SEC game and not mortgage the house.

You could scalp two LSU tickets for a ten when I went to my first game in 93

And that was almost certainly a rip off

My parents used to mail me their crappy game tickets (Ark St, MTSU, Western Carolina, etc) when I was in college (the Shula era) and tell me to try and sell them on the street for $10.

"Just find the closest mullet with a Got Shula? shirt and 2 fingers up and ask him how much money he has." - SOG Sr
