Can’t really remember giving a shite about the LSU match up prior to Saban coming and LSU fans getting triggered tho so you’re somewhat right. Saban made this game as close to a rivalry as it will ever be

I think Saban adds more to the rivalry from the LSU perspective than he does from the Alabama perspective.
I'm not a Bama fan that will downplay the rivalry with LSU. While our truest rivals (from a hatred perspective) are Auburn and TN, LSU is our rival because this game has decided the SEC West Champ more often than not

Look, I love to beat LSU and I hate to be beat by LSU, but it just isn't the same as it is with Tenneesse and Auburn.
When I was in school playing LSU was hardly a blimp on the meter scale. The only thing I had heard about Tiger stadium was that Bear said it was his least favorite place to play because it was so loud.
Now, UT and Auburn was in a whole another class and any year either team, especialy, Auburn could win. It's the history that makes them our rivals, we just don't have history with LSU!

The Bama-LSU game was an 11:30 Jefferson Pilot game before Saban made LSU relevant around the turn of the century. The game was as much a rivalry for Alabama as Arkansas was. When Saban got to Louisiana, things picked up.

This is a very reasonable take and how I see it too. When yall sing your favorite song (Dixieland Delight) yall are sure to curse at 3 teams... LSU is one of those teams. That tells me all I need to know.

Bingo! Sorry LSU fans…..that is the truth. I remember in the early 90’s due to a scheduling quirk we had to play in Death Valley back to back seasons….guess what? Nobody cared!! LOL! Won them both…..

Yeah, anyone claiming it isn't a rivalry is just yanking your chain. Rivalries exist for different reasons: pure hatred (Auburn / TN), high level competition (LSU)
