Who knows Coach Coch could have been the answer to the special teams woes at Bama but only time will tell. The Uga kicking game has been a strength for years.

Tommy Moffitt only wants to be a S&C guy.

Cochran has wanted to be an on the field coach for years, his heart hasn't been in S&C for a while.

You can see it on the field with the Bama players.

It's a random Wednesday @ 7pm in a houseboat somewhere in Louisiana. Boudinman is sitting on his rocking chair covered in alligator skin and his family just finished their 3rd bowl of gumbo... and yet, Boudinman has 1 thing on his mind.

Though Saban didn't have trouble hiring a known alcoholic named Sarkisian to his staff.

Sark can coach some offense. Cochran is a S&C coach that didn't know whit about special teams. Saban told him to learn the job and Cochran left in a snit.

Yeah. This is what I don't think people understand about Saban or, if they do, they just ignore it because they're rival fans and just want to troll the Alabama fans. He doesn't just give you a job because you want it. He expects you to know it before handing you the reins. Cochran had been a S&C coach for his entire career. One day he just hops over to Saban's office and tells him he wants to advance his career and asks for an on-the-field coaching position. How do you think Saban should have reacted to this request other than telling him he needs to start with the basics?

If you're a CEO of a small company and the head of your maintenance department comes into your office asking for a job in accounting, do you give him that job straight away or do you tell him to learn it first?

The advice from Saban was that if Cochran wanted to become a special teams coach, he should start attending Alabama’s special teams meetings and invest time into learning the intricacies of the position. Cochran left the conversation upset and convinced he wouldn’t be getting an on-field opportunity at Alabama given hebelieved he had already spent a lot of time around special teams.

Demise? We went 11-2 in a down year where we had critical injuries sideline our best player and had us playing true freshmen at linebacker before they were ready. You guys are so ate up with bama envy. Pathetic.

Seems dumb that you had no viable alternatives behind Moses at a position so important in Saban's defense.

Totally agree with you on that one. Poor roster management, player evaluation and development.

It would appear that Cochran was involved with Special Teams already at Alabama, and during his time at LSU per Kirby Smart.

quote:

Some have suggested Smart is taking a chance by hiring Cochran to become a special teams coordinator when he has not previously held that position. But Smart had an answer for those critics and doubters, as well. “He was always involved in some way, shape or form with special teams (at Alabama),” Smart said. “That’s always been something, even dating back to my days at LSU, that he was kind of the quality control guy at LSU that worked with special teams. So his background has been around that.”

Cochran's 4th Quarter program is very 2009. And worked great in 2009. Unfortunately Alabama has recruited a different type of athlete from 10 years ago.

Since 2009, didn't Alabama play in the NC game in 2011, 2012, 2015, 2017, and 2018?

I guess playing in 5 other NC games since 2009 isn't a credit to Cochran and his 4th Quarter Program.

That doesn't even make sense in football anymore either. You don't want a slow arse 220 lb corner. Especially for the run and gun/spread offense everyone runs now.

You’re confusing them now boudinman!

Your post has CLEARLY reinforced one of the four major reasons Gump FB is declining, ie continually losing coaches in Nick Saban’s demented self destructive Cavalcade of Nonsense — I mean who the phuckk takes a pay cut in today’s high $$$ CFB scene and sits still for it. I couldn’t believe I was reading that — Until I thought about it — lol

Pathetic ain’t the word !

Tide irrelevance reinforced and Victory pronounced in laughter at Tide Expense, what is your favorite boudin, Baw!

I’m making my runs to Maurice, the boudin lady there is hotter than a firecracker but the boudin is losing its luster for me.

Depends on S&C. When Mac was here it was absurdly bad. I highly, highly doubt Scott let Bama get even remotely near that level

This is more than likely sabans last season.

He has no QBs for the next two years.
