The defensive lineman in a 3-4 are responsible for clogging holes mainly, not for necessarily finishing tackles. Most the time, linebackers make the plays in a 3-4. That's why most NT in a 3-4 are 300lbs and the DE's are about 260.

5 tackles in Ky game. 4 against Lsu with 2 sacks. Again.. he wasn't the starter.. He did decent coming off the bench. We'll see this year if he can continue to get better.

Here are Al Woods stats. Pretty much the same as the sloppy Alabama oversized unskilled lineman.

Hunter our Oline was as porous as a colander

which is why:
Ro had 105 tackles
Anders had 66
Reamer had 50
Dareus was the leading tackler on the line with 33.
(all numbers include solo and assisted)

Alabama sucks, they deserve to be in the Sun Belt

Played in 41 games, starting 16 times ... Finished career with 73 tackles, including 35 solo stops ... Had 8.0 tackles for losses and 3.5 sacks ... Started all 13 games as a senior for LSU in 2009.
14 games.. 33 tackles..14 solo..9 tackles for loss.. 6.5 sacks... I think Dareus is doing ok. And was Woods in a 4-3 or 3-4 defense?

Enjoyed the discussion. Your boys on the DL are soft like bread and twice as doughy. All the pressure is on Hightower and the other LB to produce like Mcclain. If they cannot, its going to be a long season.

We shall see. A lot of unproven players in the SEC, which is why the league is going to be so entertaining this year.

definitely will be some pressure on Hightower. Ro did a fantastic job setting our defense and getting us in the right plays. That's where we could be lacking on the front. Physical ability, I truly believe we'll have a better pass rush and be even more physical on the line this year. Only a month away to start finding out answers.

at the tards underestimating Dareus.
As for "the animals"....we have freaks at LB'er for days. Upshaw (aka Black Lattimer) may kill someone this year. Everyone knows about Hightower. Jerrell Harris should finally get it together and we have guys like Nico, Jordan, Tana Patrick, Mosley, Alfy Hill, Petey Smith, Fowler and others.
Chapman will be more of a "playmaker" than Cody was. I'm taking all bets. This isn't gump speak. Money where my mouth is. Not calling undefeated season but if you think we're going to drastically fall off on D you're going to get your feelings hurt.

Dareus is only a 3* and therefore he sucks

Nobody is underestimating him. Most people are just saying they want to see him play at a high level more consistently.

Funny thing was he had offers from basically every major program in the country and even before he committed to Alabama no one could understand why he was a 3*. One of those times where it seemed like every Joe Blow knew more than Rivals.

Dareus is just over rated and it will show this season. It is ok to admit it, no one will think less of you.

He was a beast whenever he was on the field last year. Barring injury/suspension I'll guarantee 10 sacks. Probably most productive DL per snap we had last year.

Yeah but his offer from Auburn wasn't commit-able.
