Good for Alabama Football, but it still doesn’t mean that you have accomplished anything

Everyone here is here bc they love a sports team and want to talk about it.

EVER, you say!

Bama has a long way to go to match Yale in college football:

The [Yale] Bulldogs were the dominant team in the early days of intercollegiate football, winning 27 college football national championships, including 26 in 38 years between 1872 and 1909

I’d say LSU 2000-2011.
123-34 (78.4%)
4 SEC championships, 2 national championships

We’ve had some fun runs, but comparatively, they won’t hold up to some others on here. Like a true Aggie, I dream of future runs:)

2017 - 2019

15 - 21 (6-18)

Wins over powerhouses South Alabama, UT Martin, Vanderbilt (twice), Kentucky, Louisiana-Lafayette, Mississippi State, Texas Tech, Southern Illinois, Kent State, Louisiana-Monroe, Arkansas (twice), Southeastern Louisiana, and New Mexico State.

Never won more than two games in a row.

Missed 18 field goals out of 70 attempts.

Missed 6 PATs in 36 games.

Dead last in the conference in total defense twice in a three year span. We were 12th the other season.

In 2018, we were down 28 - 3 and had 3rd and goal from the LSU 1. We threw an incomplete jump ball on 3rd down and then kicked a field goal from the LSU 1-yard line as time expired in the first half. The score then became 28-6. Expert level playcalling.

I’d think that the Dooley era extended into the 70’s, even with Bear doing his thing.

Meh, too up and down. Some good years though.

71 11-1

73 7-4-1
74 6-6

95-98
45-5
1 National Championship
2 SEC Championships
You could say 93-01 but ‘94, 99, and 00 weren’t that great.

If Neyland didn’t have WW2 to deal with, then 1938-1951 would have been unbelievable.

Bro, Bama has been killing it - with a few brief sketchy patches - for 100 years.

Honestly, if not for Alabama, LSU would have had a pretty nice 20 year run.

This might be a more interesting question. How many NCs has Alabama cost your team during the Saban era?

Off the top of my head:

Florida - 1

2009 - Tebow, Harvin and company would have beaten Texas worse than Alabama did

LSU - 1

2011 - Directly beat them in the BCSNCG

Georgia - 2

2012 - Georgia would have played and destroyed ND in the BCSNCG
2017 - Directly beat them in the CFPCG

Any others?

Don't have to like it & the hatred for Saban is just because he brought Bama success.

LSU could be 2 that you cost us. 2012 if yeldon doesn’t score it just screen in the last minute we play Georgia for the conference title. Would have been a good game. Winner kills ND

Acknowledging that college football existed prior to 1982 is strong work blueridgeTiger. The power of the Red Elephant Club is awesome and real.

2 titles in 14 years is a "dynasty" according to FSU fans so I guess 96-08 (3 national title game wins, 2 Heisman winners, 4 SEC title game wins).
