You've got to be under the age of 30 or gingerly retarded and on some type of spectrum. There's no way you obsessively post about one thing over and over and over and be out of your teens or 20's or not have a mental disability.

Bama has the worst rated recruiting class in the SEC. Yes its JUNE, but when have you ever heard that sentence in the past 30 years?
There has been some version of this same thread every summer for at least 15 years straight.

In Bama's defense, who gives a shite about recruiting? It's all about the portal these days.

Again, bama does not have the money to compete in the new NIL era. They just don't. This is why their recruiting has fallen off hard.

How did they sign top five classes in 2024, 2025, and 2026?
Posted on 6/22/26 at 12:45 pm to Richleau
Just so I understand the Rant’s logic, before NIL Alabama owed all its success to outspending everyone else buying players, but now Alabama does not have the money to buy players. Is this the theory?

What?
SEC Recruiting Rankings for the Class of 2026
Only Georgia was ranked higher and they signed 6 more players than Alabama.
Alabama had the highest average ranking per recruit in the conference.
Alabama and Texas tied for signing the most 5-stars in the class.
If that's "fallen off hard" then what the frick are the rest of the programs in the conference doing?

I do think that’s what is being implied. The logic being it’s easy to outspend everyone else when you’re the only one paying. Not saying it’s what has occurred but that’s the theory and the logic behind it.

If the old southwest conference taught us anything it is that only Alabama ever paid players or provided them gifts.
Then there was HookerGate, and Keep it Down Home Cuz, and McDonald’s bags of cash, and Coach O talking about being able to carry cash in through the front door of a recruit’s house instead of the backdoor, and Cam Newton’s church improvements, and Odell Beckham throwing out $100 bills to players on live TV, and Reggie Bush being stripped of the Heisman, and free tattoo u at Ohio State, and the Ole Miss/Freeze investigation uncovering that both Ole Miss and Mississippi State payed Leo Lewis. All those incidents prove only Alabama paid players..

Money has run dry. Why else is your patron saint lobbying Congress to impose a salary cap?

NIL is still wearing diapers. Each passing year more and more teams are coming online. Indiana was just incredibly fast to the game due to Cignetti.
I’m not saying that’s why Bama’s class is down but with more and more teams being able to pay the players have more options than ever and with the shine off Bama it’s not surprising.
So the kids that Bama and UGA types would normally throw some bagman money at now have dozens of options closer to home. UGA still has Kirby so kids are drawn to them still, but once Kirby goes or they continue to lose that shine will also dim. And remember, kids want money more than winning so they’ll take a bigger bag even if it means no Natty. My team who has really embraced NIL last year and this year has more more 4 stars on our roster and more 4 star commitments than ever. These are guys who would have gone to Auburn, UGA, Bama, Clemson in the past. The entire landscape has changed and we are seeing the results - a Miami/Indiana Natty was unthinkable 2 years ago.

Former Alabama coach Nick Saban detailed how much the Crimson Tide’s collective spent every year for the past five years in a Senate committee hearing Wednesday morning about the Protect College Sports Act.
Saban, who voiced his support for the bill introduced by Sens. Ted Cruz and Maria Cantwell, said during his testimony that “my first year we had a collective at Alabama,” it spent $2.7 million. It spent $7 million the next year, he said, then had $10 million for the roster during Saban’s final season in 2023.
Saban said the collective spent $17 million a year later and $24 million in what would have been the 2025 season.
“Now you have schools that have close to $40 million rosters,” Saban said. “If we continue to do that, we’re going to lose Olympic sports, we’re going to lose non-revenue sports, we’re going to lose scholarships, and basically what’s going to happen is you’re going to have football and basketball succeed, and we’ll have club sports for everything else with no scholarships.
“That’s horrible. We can’t let that happen, and I think we have to continue to figure out ways that we can raise revenue so that we can keep all sports and all opportunities for young people intact.”
He seems to have done a fine enough job explaining why on his own.

Agreed. Saban should just go retire to the lake and smile knowing he won the college bagman era while being a mediocre NFL coach.

I don't get why people say this with regards to Indiana; it isn't like they went out and bought a ton of big-time talent.

He bought Mendoza from Cal and all those WR’s and his defense weren’t recruited to Indiana.
