This is a weird situation we've got going. It's a 3-way race and only 2 teams will be in the SECCG, and probably only 2 will be allowed in the playoffs.

Alabama is a shoo-in to win the West (if you're not a delusional rantard), but we already have a loss. For Alabama to make the playoffs, we'll have to win out including the SECCG.

TN vs GA is a more interesting scenario.
The loser of this game might get a free pass to the playoffs because they will finish with only 1 loss.

The winner of GA v TN will have to face Alabama in the SECCG, and a loss will likely knock them out.

In other words it's very likely that these 3 could all finish with 1 loss, and only 2 SEC teams will be allowed into the playoffs.

I never understood why teams get punished for playing in the championship game. It’s a bonus game to determine a conference champion that otherwise shouldn’t count.

On the other hand, what if LSU wins the West and beats either Georgia or Tennessee? That'll be a 2 loss team in the playoffs.

Here's something to fry your brain:

It's actually even MORE possible that only 1 SEC team makes the playoffs.

No, we are not. No one is a "shoo-in" for the SECCG yet. Hell, I think even Vandy and Missouri are still technically alive for a division title (despite being absurdly unlikely). Haven't done the math to confirm, but as they could theoretically end up 5-3 in conference play, you never know...

I'm fine with losing out in that scenario. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be having this discussion in the preseason. My ceiling was 10-2, and maybe getting an 11th win in a bowl game. My absolute pie-in-the-sky best case scenario.

If I have to settle for an 11-1 regular season, getting 'robbed' by the system for our 'rightful' playoff spot, with a chance to get a twelfth win in a bowl and start 2023 well-positioned for a run, in year 2 of our new awesome coach, I'll be fine with that.

Hell, I'll be bouncing off the walls.

Why don't we just let the big games get played out and settle all of this on the field?

Way to early to start narrowing teams down to 3. Rebs and LSU are playing good right now.

Here's one for ya that no one is considering. People forget that this Georgia team almost lost to Mizzou. This isn't 2021.

Georgia could very easily drop to both TN and Florida.

We win the rematch with the Vols, and Alabama and the Vols play for a 3rd time in the Natty.

Youre two days from being embarrassed. You should worry about your next game and stop harping on Muh Rematch.

Ya know.... Football and trashtalk aside. I consider all the people from these three states to be my homies. (with the exception of Nashville and Atlanta) When the shooting starts I know we got each others backs. I'd add Western NC to that mix too.

If Georgia beats Tennessee and later loses a relatively close game to Alabama in the SECCG, then I see Alabama and UGA getting in IF two SEC teams get into the playoffs. The choice would be between UGA and Tennessee for the last spot, and one team beat the other.

But that's a lot of ifs. If Ohio State, Clemson and, say, UCLA finished undefeated then it is possible that only the SEC winner would get in.

Still a lot of football left to be played though, and upsets can and do happen.

Without football all the southern schools would constantly be circle jerking each other so it’s better this way

Only 1 will make it this year if...

UCLA runs the table

Ohio State or Michigan wins out

Clemson wins out.

Then you have Georgia or Tennessee whoever is undefeated and conference champ.

It's never counted for Ole Miss.
