I do not agree with the article, but I thought it would bring some valuable discussion. What players, from the recent Alabama teams, do you consider busts at this point? Who do you consider successes? Who needs more time? Who has the potential to have a great career? Who needs a new start? These could all be focal points of a great discussion.

Agree with all. So I guess Saban is pretty good.

Alabama does for them what they're supposed to do for them. Getting them degrees, drafted high and championship rings. Like any other adult, when they get on their own, it's up to them.

very true.
with that said, they've had some high profile busts... but some guys are doing well and will do well in the future... hightower will be great in NE... richardson's well on his way to being the best back in the league... warmack will do well in TN.

But other than McClain, who failed massively, who's even been in the NFL long enough to judge? Andre Smith? Well, he's one of the best RTs in the NFL. The best OL the Bengals have. Kareem Jackson was in the 2010 draft class with McClain and has started. But hasn't lived up to 1st round material just yet. The guys in the 2011, 2012, and obviously 2013 haven't even gotten started yet.

It's eventually going to be their demise. Sure the draft picks look pretty now, but they're turning out to be 100%, garaunteed busts. It's becoming a talking point, and that is not good for the Tide.

Which is what I was getting at. But like fans, the media is far too short-sighted and impatient. They're ready to label someone a bust, or not, after one year in the NFL. Like recruiting classes in college, the draft grade doesn't come until down the road.

I know what you're getting at, but how is it Saban's fault the kids don't perform in the NFL once they are taken in the draft. I would hate Saban too for giving me a chance to make millions playing football.

I will never understand McClain. Probably the most NFL ready player Bama has had in last 10 years. Just everything seemed to be there. Incredible athletic ability, ran the defense on the field.

i mean the thought that this will be their 'demise'... come on. It's far more likely to come with stuff like crappy QB development or assistant coaches leaving (namely smart)... not because they've had a ton of early rounders not live up to the hype... ... you could even spin that into a positive.
