This is not a troll. What keeps you watching Alabama football, knowing they should (based on talent) win every game convincingly outside of about 2-3 every year. How does the excitement stay where it is? I know that I have grown bored watching them over the past decade. The dominance has become monotonous, in a way.

I have much respect for the job Saban has done. I do hope that he has to shake hands with Arkansas' coach in defeat at least once.

Long time Bama fan, I believe 89' was my first game at Legion field. For those of us that lived through Dubose, Franchione, and Shula, this era of dominance will never get old.

It is the expectation at Bama, it's what makes Bama football so special. I thoroughly enjoy winning every game 50-0, it isn't boring or monotonous to me in any way.

I don't even see anything you've said to be a troll except to other fanbases. Personally, I have had very little time feeling bored. When you have a barn burner and win a close one at the end of the game it does remind you how fun a game can END, but that makes the game experience itself miserable! I'd much rather just beat the dog shyte out of every team we play.

To answer how boring it is to get NC's like this? You lose one like this last one or lose a play off game or any big game, and you are immediately ravenous for another big one to make up for it.

TO ME anyway it just really never gets old. Especially because it can't last forever. Stress free football is awesome, and I don't take a single snap for granted.

After the Shula years I'm just enjoying the ride. And I've loved every minute of it. Well almost minus a few

They will lie to you and say one thing or another but the fact is it's not possible for their current state to not take a tiny bit of wind out of the sails of season excitement. Their 08/09 seasons were probably on an entire nother level of joy based on where they had been and came from and to make such a turnaround and really get back to the top. The fact is that currently they don't even have to break a sweat until the SECCG. Granted they aren't necessarily guaranteed a title every year but they don't realy need to worry about anythign until December and onwards. You can't convince me that that has the same level of meaning as when they first started winning under saban. Take a big rivalry gmae like Tennessee...sure it may be fun to remember games of old and talk crap but when you go into the game KNOWING you are going to win by 3 touchdowns, how can you deep down inside get that fired up? Not saying it isn't fun or satisfying or joyful to be where they are...I mean how would it not be fun to win all the time and beat everyone? That IS the fun. I'm just saying...there is no way that it is AS satisfying now as it was when they went into a season thinking there was at least some small, possible chance they might lose more than 1 game.

Trust me dude, it never gets old. The National Title game win over Georgia was every bit as exciting (if not moreso) than any other significant moment in the Saban era.

Right and I specifically mentioned that I'm sure that winning never gets old, since that's the whole point of playing anyway. I do NOT think that bama fans hang their heads after big wins the robotically chant "oh, look, we won again. yay us".

My overall point is that that the anticipation/excitement/enjoyment level of the current era can't be on the same level as it was during the earlier times, when every single game meant something and you were climbing out of the shula depths. Of course winning is fun and somethign to celebrate, but I don't buy that it is AS big of a deal now as it was then. When you go into every season knowing you are going to make the playoffs and essentially having 2-3 games where you are actually tested a little, I don't see how it can compare.

Hit the nail on the head. Winning never gets old, but it is not the same intensity or anxiousness when we play UT or LSU. I will say since Kirby has put UGA back in the thick of things.....last years game in the MNC and this years SECCG gave me the same butterflies as the 2008 Black-out game the week leading up to it.

I am like some of the others on here. This ride will be coming to an end sooner rather than later. I'm just soaking in every bit of it. This kind of dominance is hard to come by.

If your Hogs were this good would you grow bored of it? Probably not. If you have love for a program and you are truly a fan then it never gets old. Especially if you were around for the bad times.

I attended Alabama during the Shula years. I paid my dues and I’ll enjoy every second of the Saban era.

You are correct. It's just a different feeling and mindset.

2008 and 2009 were emotional and visceral. Nothing will ever match it, unless we go through another 20 years of darkness and emerge on the other end and wreak havoc for a decade. It's just a situation that is hard to put into words, especially for those of us who grew up with the stories of Bryant and the 70s and only really experienced DuBose and Fran and Price and Shula. Nothing in sports outside of the Braves making a World Series run in the next year or two will ever top 2008 and the end of 2009. Traveling to Athens, Knoxville, Baton Rouge, etc and winning were things that I had rarely experienced in my life - especially when those places had really good teams. And 2008 we went to all of them and won. And then we broke the streak vs Auburn with a 36 point shutout. And then 2009 was the Florida revenge and the perfect season. It was just a 24 month span that will never be matched.

Now, it's just a different mentality. I'm basically just more afraid to lose for 90% of the season and am relieved when we win (we call it Shula Syndrome). Big rivalries and championship games are still exciting and thrilling, but the rest of the season truly is sort of more of "how are we playing" vs "did we win". Everything for most of the season is looked at through the prism of how we will play vs LSU/Auburn/SECCG/Playoff.

Beating Tennessee every year like a drum, winning all of our games on the road in Starkville or Fayetteville or Oxford (except the 1), those things seem laughable to celebrate to people around the league and country, but most of vividly remember a time where that was not the case at all. However, I can say with 100% honesty that I haven't taken a single second of this thing for granted..........and I don't think anyone else who is currently between the ages of 25-45 has either. It's going to end sooner than later, and we all remember what it could turn back into and what it was before, and there ain't no way in hell we're gonna let any of this slip away without savoring it.

in the early 2000s Tiger Woods was the most dominate golfer in the world. If he entered a tournament it was better than a 50% chance he'd win. VS a field of 100 plus, that's pretty damn amazing.

Viewership was at all time high for golf during that time. It wasn't because everyone wanted Tiger to loose. It was because they knew that he would do something amazing.

It's kinda the same thing with Alabama football. They may not win every game but there will most likely be an amazing play to make it worthwhile...

I get anxious before games....arkansas game=yes. Should Alabama lose to Ark no but absolutely they can. Same with pretty much every team on the schedule (..not western carolinas ) I watch in earnestness because of the above and ...lets say the score does go the way of the OM game last year. There is still the execution of each play. Like F1, no lead changes are going to happen but i still watch for the sheer speed, precision...execution and appreciate it

I don't doubt beating UGA was plenty exciting, but no way could it have been as exciting as the first title Saban won. For instance, LSU winning in 2003 was much more exciting for me than the 2007 title, and LSU didn't rattle off nearly as many NCs as Alabama has the past 10 years. I think that first title you witness in person always #justmeansmore

I still hold that for whatever reason, there are plenty of possibilities, that I was more emotionally excited/happy after we beat Florida in the SECCG in 2009 than when we beat Texas to win the National Title.

The 2015 national title win over Clemson is still my favorite of the entire era, both because of the game itself and because of that team and the players on it (it was also my first one in person, to your point).

And the 2008 team will always and forever be my favorite group of guys in Alabama history.......and they didn't want any championships. But they established the program.
