Real self interest would have been going to LSU where they would have been guaranteed playing time because the lack of talent.

It is an interesting observation that Saban doesn’t think that highly of Alabama high school players. Does he think the Alabama high school coaches don’t do a good job of development or something?

Correct. Per capita is misleading.
eg Nebraska and Oklahoma are ahead of Louisiana.

saban thinks very highly of alabama hs football though.
it’s just alabama recruits too well not to load up from many other states in most years. louisiana just one among many there obviously.
