Bama traveled to La Tech in the early 90s and that is the only time I remember them going to a non-BCS school.

Did we go to Hawaii in the turn of the century? I know they came to T-town. Seems like that's one place we might would not mind going.

USM is wallowing in debt right now in their athletic department. The AD when Fedora was there left the department in horrible shape. There was millions of dollars missing from the general athletic fund for the university that still has not been accounted for.

OM will be better than those 2 teams next year. We do have to play MSU again after playing LSU, as usual. They'll be a tough team next year.

Games were scheduled because of the bowl ban. Rivals were saying we were spitting in the face of the NCAA.

Also, we played Louisiana-Lafayette on the road. I think Bill Curry was still coach.

We actually played at Hawaii 2 years in a row 02,03 according to this schedule. That must have been our probationary bowl game. I remembered USC tried to do that as well but the NCAA put an end to it.

EDIT - ah beer Bryant sort of beat me to it I guess.

4000 fans in attendance (with half of them leaving at halftime) every week will make you do some odd things.

Southern Miss cancelled the series when Bama wouldn't go to Hattiesburg.

no, really.

Same reason they wouldn't play us. The whole "Ole Miss is scared" bullshite is overplayed. We've told them we would play them but we're not traveling to a C-USA stadium. They stopped negotiations then.

I remember being in the middle east during desert shield/storm and watching the 1990 game when one of my best childhood friends, Kerry Valrie, picked off two passes and broke Alabama's back returning one for a TD. Never was so happy and so mad at the same time in my entire life. Our platoon leader was a Southern Miss grad as well.

Valid point. I'm actually ok with our 1-1 series with them. Logistically it makes a little more sense for us with the majority of our fanbase living in Mississippi. It will essentially be another home game for our team.

The Rock is not the best stadium in the world but there are far worse.

watching the 1990

I was at that game at Legion Field. Toilets were backed up, water out, 100 and some odd degrees in the stands. Bama gave the game away and Brett Favre did just enough. I didn't really care, I just wanted to get the frick outta that place.

Don't forget Bama has a bye before going to Ole Miss and before going to Death Valley.

I think that south Alabama has had an impact on their recruiting. Gives kids in that area a better place to play.
