I was at the game and it looked like a fake injury to me. The optics looked like it so I get it.
I saw it somewhere within the thread but I think everyone is sick of the fake injuries and if this is what it takes so be it.

The real tell will be to see how evenly and how often this rule gets applied. When blue bloods of the sport get assessed then we will know it's for real.
If it doesn't get applied right in year one, they will just make the rule so the review booth can look and determine when the guy went down to the ground. It isn't like it is a judgement call that people can argue about. There won't be some crazy review process delaying the game since the player is already on the ground being attended to. Player goes down before time A or player goes down after time A. Pretty simple. Not sure why you turned it into some blue blood thing.

It was driving me insane. There was an “injury” every time we had a big play into the redzone.

This sounds egregious and we absolutely should have been held accountable. No issues with that.
But I don’t believe we are the first team, 7-8 weeks into the season that has done this.

Simple. Like most other rules and penalties, not every rule gets applied evenly (refs and tv booth guys are humans too and therefore fallible), and many fouls (even obvious ones) don't get called, or get called one some teams more than others.
I'm fine with a level playing field. Let's see if it is indeed level.

This rule has been on the books for 3 years and this is the first enforcement of it? Kiffin didn’t receive a single infraction last season?
As for the play in question, Chappell immediately motioned to the sideline to be removed, and didn’t return for a significant amount of time.
Pay the fine. Whatever. But the selective officiating in this league is a joke.

The refs were trying to give the game to the hogs anyway.
Yeah, SEC officials are known for calling penalties in favor of a team that has no chance at anything over a potential playoff team.

It was noted that the Texas A&M player had no contact during the play and returned to the game on the second play of the ensuing defensive possession.

He literally immediately asked for a sub after the play.

A&M AD talking to Tony Petitti right now.

So if you were there you should also have seen Chapelle motioning to the coaches on the previous play trying to get them to take him out of the game.
This was a coaching failure to not take out a guy who was cramping up but is total bs to pick this play to start fining teams.
There were over 12 minutes left in the game and Aggies were charged a timeout.

what game were you watching? Arkansas had 7 red zone trips. There were 2 injury timeouts (including the one that was penalized). The other was legit.

Always find a way to make it Texas’ fault. You figure that Aggy fans would not always use the victim’ card?

Heck, I thought Disney World had canceled you and replaced you with Princess and the frog too!
Were you in banishment land for the last 9 months? On a trip to the remote jungle in Brazil or something.

A&M was charged a timeout for the injury, which is a rule in place to prevent players from faking an injury. What's the issue here?

I am disappointed you didn't come straight out with "got Aggy on your mind!"
In all seriousness, I was trying to get shite done IRL. Been busy at work. I try to quit this place but it never fully takes. I blame Message Board Geniuses. They are the equivalent of putting a full fifth of liquor under the nose of an recovering alcoholic.

Side note, I took the kid to Disneyland this summer and was surprised that I actually liked the new version of the ride. I mean it's Disney but they have a nice tribute to New Orleans going on there. But maybe I'm too woke from living on the West Coast for decades.
Regardless, I'll always feel most at home in my briar patch.
