What no Aggie may ever understand is the reason for the secrecy and the “behind their backs” negotiations with OU and TU. If A&M had been consulted about the possibility of those two coming into the conference, they would have gone bananas and shouted the news to the world six months ago, just as they did when they finally learned about it last week and contacted the Houston Chronicle.

This would have given the Big Ten an opportunity to jump in and wreck the talks or, worse, take OU and TU themselves. The Aggies don’t see that this move has cemented the SEC and its members as the most secure conference to be in. College football is not the same as it was a year ago and will never be the same. Traditions, rivalries and “feelings” are being thrown out the window as money takes over completely. Those values are, ironically, not affordable anymore. They interfere with the making of money.

We have to have A&M playing TU again, and OU. It’s just too big a moneymaker. It’s games like these that will drive the engine of the new college football landscape.

I’m sad for the Aggies whose feelings were hurt by the changes but any forward-looking college football fan could see what’s on the horizon. A new kind of competition. One that pays the players. Lots of money is needed to stay in the game.

That commands change. Drastic change. The Big Ten is our main rival and the SEC’s Commissioner caught them sleeping and pounced. Good on him. We’re more secure because of his brilliance. He deserves a raise.

I’m personally fine with the move. The SEC has to do what is best for the conference as a whole. No doubt Oklahoma and tu bring big time programs with lots of support and can grow the conference.

All that said, as sad as the corndogs have been on this topic, I might actually root for the sips when they play you guys.
