Using the FEI ELS metric. Pretty much the only SoS I consider valid since it's not based on averages.
Strength of schedule ratings represent the number of losses a team two standard deviations above average would expect to have against the schedule of opponents (ELS),
Only for games played thus far, doesn't count future games. Listed in order by overall rank, expected losses to the right.
1. Florida 2.71
3. Oklahoma 2.48
4. Kentucky 2.47
5. Georgia 2.36
8. Miss St 1.96
11. Arkansas 1.89
12. LSU 1.86
12. Vandy 1.86
14. USC 1.71
16. Alabama 1.66
24. Texas A&M 1.39
25. Ole Miss 1.37
28. Tennessee 1.28
31. Missouri 1.22
37. Auburn 1.09
40. Texas 1.04
Non SEC Top10:
15. Ohio St 1.69
27. Penn St 1.30
35. Oregon 1.16
39. Indiana 1.06
73. Notre Dame .63
81. Miami .60
86 SMU .53
My thoughts:
Florida being #1 has been expected all year, so not a big surprise. Lucky FSU is so bad, and it's still brutal. Oklahoma could pass them next week.
Brian Kelly is really missing that Notre Dame schedule, the LSU schedule is almost 3 times more difficult. Florida's schedule is 4.3 times more difficult than ND.
Indiana now has a SoS as good as Texas, and they both got blown out by the 1 good team they played.
Speaking of Texas, Texas and Auburn finally get a schedule strength with an expected loss over 1. Congrats.
It's ridiculous that the people who vote in these polls and committee don't pay more attention to SoS. Stop rewarding teams for playing weak schedules.

Just wondering, what is Washington's schedule? I bet DeBoer misses that regular season schedule he had last year.

Washington is #26, 1.32 expected losses, 10 spots below Alabama this year.

Don't know why Texas is included, they'll be sitting 12-1 with a top 5 SOS on selection sunday

Yet if you could beat unranked teams like we do it wouldn't even be a problem now would it? How can anyone take a team serious that gets embarrassed by a team with literally no offense. Our strength of schedule is the least of your issues Bama Boy

Florida, Vandy and Arky only have a losing record because they HAD to play Texas, a de facto scheduled loss. Can't play Ole Miss/LSU, Bama and Tennessee every week

Florida's schedule was a beast and their recent run is amazing IMO.

Being the good guy I am, I'll provide a fair retort for UTjr

I mean, it’s fair.
SEC posters on here are bashing every other conference but also want to bash the schedule of the team leading their own conference.

Only shitty teams clutch on to SOS rankings.
You know how to make your SOS go up? Lose to your opponent.
Dumbasses.

It still suffers from the main flaw in all SOS rankings; not enough meaningful OOC games to draw meaningful comparisons. If they really want to make SOS more useful, do two things.
First, no more G5, FCS, or Independent games. Only P4, and the Big 12 is included on a trial basis to see if it's competitive.
Second, every team plays 8 conference games and 4 randomly rotating OOC games, including at least one from each conference. They might have to make every participating conference the same size to make the schedules work.

What are the rosters for each Big 12 team like? Try to compare to the SEC team's roster. The key is to have more 4* and some 5* recruits than to have 3* and a few 4* recruits. That is why the Big 12 are far behind on the overall talents. Then the next is coaching.
