That was a completely different era of college football. Pay-to-play and the transfer portal have now made it infinitely harder to field talented teams with few gaps and good chemistry. I promise you that Orgeron and Miles wouldn’t have won any titles in the NIL era. They would be struggling just as much if not more than Kelly if they were still coaching.

I’m not letting Kelly off the hook by any means but comparing him to Orgeron and Miles is just flat out retarded.

The crawfish are going to pay for Brian Kelly’s inability to win a meaningful post season game.

It really isn’t fair that Louisiana’s main natural resource is going to be decimated for a guy who boils crawfish in plain water and then dusts them.

After LSU crashes and realizes they’ll win no more natties with 5th year Qbs they will go into a Great Depression and blame Texas and after losing to Texas next year theyll run and hide in the ACC and start focusing more on the prospect of AI making all humans more equally gifted athletically and equally smart through genetic engineering.

This was pre-NIL when you guys were paying players from a hospital foundation.

if you think that the state pays the buyout, then you are clueless.

LSU can’t keep OLOTL Hospital from throwing money at them. Everywhere you look there is OLOTL signage. Sure is nice brother . Cheers

Clown thread if (you're implying that) LSU is the reason he can’t win.

The last three head coaches have won titles.

The program isn’t the issue.

That sickly little midget is all out of options at his elder old age.

In all seriousness, this is the best job Kelly will be able to get. At this point, LSU is as good a place to be as anywhere.

He doesn't coach anywhere else unless he gets fired ... even then, maybe ... his buy out would have to be huge and he might go to analyst land instead.

Even if Louisiana State beats Clemson (snicker) this will not be true.

Until proven otherwise, this is true. I hope he makes me eat crow, but I don't have confidence in him at all. Beat Clemson and the perception will begin to change.

Obviously that trend will eventually end but it proves when it does end, it’s the coaches fault not the program.

We don’t pull the old posts around here often enough. We were told Miles sucked and there was no way a Big12 coach could be physical enough to win in the SEC.

Then they laughed at old Ed. What an idiot. He’d failed at Ole Miss so there was no way he could win at LSU.

I suppose it comes with age, the ability to not step on your dick.

If multiple 10-3 seasons and a 9-4 season while dealing with multiple crushing injuries and a thin DL qualify as "crashing and burning" I'll take that over other certain programs' crashing years every day and twice on Sundays.
