I think we all just need to sit back and relax and let the legal system do its job. Bama has a lot of great former athletes who have done great things for the community like Shaun Alexander, Paul “Bear” Bryant, Henry Ruggs, Brodie Croyle, and John Parker Wilson. When all is said and done BRANDON is going to be seen as one of the great ambassadors for sports just like each of the young men and women I just mentioned

I am a Christian; even a pastor and even I am not as insufferably sanctimonious as you.

Chill out, Draco.

I respect what you said but I think you are overdoing it a bit. At the end of the day the police knew about everything that happened and it was relayed to the university in kind, I find it hard to believe the university only learned about this in bits and pieces. You may regret how Oats relayed knowledge of the event to the media but I don't appreciate the way media has been going about reporting this event as most are reporting it through a "holier than thou" lens.

More importantly, most of these guys on here could care less about the woman or her child they're just using this situation just to troll and that says more about them than Brandon Miller.

Defending a player’s involvement in a murder cause he’s good at shoots hoops says quite a bit, too.

I'd be embarrassed.

Your coach should be fired or at least suspended.

You must be an actual graduate and not some sidewalk person. My cousin who is big UA fan even said he needed to be benched. I was actually surprised because he defends all things bama, but not this.

Just shut up no one is gonna read all that when you’re probably defending your scum AD/coach/player.

Maybe you should've. It was actually refreshing given all the denial. It's not easy to go against the grain, especially when you're fan and/or alum that loves your university and wants to believe the best in them. I don't agree with everything OP said but his post was in the right direction and shows an actual heart/conscience.

This is a strong take from a pastor. You should show your fellow neighbor some love.

Whether he is good or not there's nothing to defend because he wasn't charged. Are you of the mindset that the police made the wrong choice after reviewing their surveillance footage and collecting statements?

Actually I am not.

I originally enrolled at Mississippi State for a degree in Meteorology (which wasn't taught at the time at Alabama), but after my freshman year my mom was diagnosed with a rare blood disease. So I came home, and thought Alabama would be close enough to commute to (I lived in the B'ham metro area) but then she got worse and I needed to be around my dad to help out, at least until he got to a position where he could work from home and be there in case she had a medical emergency. By then I was working full time and had a career and was engaged; college seemed like a luxury that wasn't in the cards anymore.

I ended up getting my degree many years later up here in VA, and I'm about to finish my Master's, but not an Alabama degree (where I am at doesn't have a football team anyway). My family is loaded with Bama grads though (both brothers - the older one after he returned from the Marine Corps, the younger as a Software Engineer - think his degree is in Computer Science), numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, and my previously mentioned mother. All started with my grandfather who used to climb trees with his brothers back when they were kids and watch the Alabama teams of Wallace Wade and Frank Thomas practice.

I'm no sidewalk fan - I've been a fan during the DuBose, Fran, and Shula years, and was not old enough to have actual memories of any of Bear's titles.

False. Message board banter isn’t “more important”, and it doesn’t “say more” about anybody in this instance. If that’s true…there’s a slew of statements from your own fanbase that would appall you.

Nashville Tider spews out some vile shite. What if I told you he wished Covid death upon an entire fanbase? What if I told you he wanted to make a cardboard cutout of the murder victim? Damn, you’re right…it does say more about some fans than Brandon Miller.

I think a lot of this can be blamed on the 1 and done rule. That rule makes it harder for coaches to be a disciplinarian or sit a star player in a situation like this. Coaches know they are only gonna have these type guys for 1 season and so they feel pressure to put them on the floor to get the full value out of that player for that 1 year.

Bottom line is even if Oats had sit him down for the rest of the season I guarantee you that Miller will still be drafted top 2 or 3 if not 1st overall. This is as much a NBA issue as it is a college issue.

And NIL.
And the portal.
And the win-at-all-costs fans who want to fire a coach if the team misses the tourney.
And the Rube Goldberg machine of a D1 athletic program that makes money to build facilities and provide amenities to attract athletes to make money to build facilities and provide amenities to attract athletes.

I made a thread the other day saying that Brandon Miller had no business on a college campus. That goes for most one and done guys. The NBA needs right that shite. These kids are more likely to get a life education from professional handlers and not college coaching staffs.
