NC State, Clemson... That's it.

FSU had their chance 30 years ago and pussed out. I also don't want to hear that stupid fricking fake Indian chant 12x per year in the SEC.

North Carolina and Virginia are nothing but Ivy League wannabes at this point, especially from a cultural standpoint.

VA Tech could be a decent fit, but they offer essentially nothing.

I don't think the decision makers care about culture anymore. We'll be doing good just to keep it making sense geographically somewhat.

Culture is irrelevant when everyone is in two conferences.

I like the FSU war chant. Apply for a fight application at your local Sonic.

I am so tired of posting this, but I’ll continue if the redneck portion of the SEC fan base (like OP) insists on promoting that same bilge reflected in his post.

Much to your probable dismay, the SEC is not some hick hive of tattoos and keg stands. Most SEC grads live in cities like Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, Charlotte, Miami, Tampa, Charleston, Palm Beach, Nashville, etc. The South is the most populated and the (debatably) the wealthiest region in the country.

UVA and UNC are great Southern academic institutions, like many other Southern schools (Vandy, Rice, Duke, W&L, Davidson, Emory, W&M, GT, UGA - UF - UT are all rising, Wake, Tulane, etc.). The fact that you think their academic prowess makes them “non-Southern” is humiliating. So you have to be laden with sub-20 ACT scores to be Southern, eh?

Here’s a newsflash: The best schools in the country appeal to students far beyond their own region. Most kids at Yale are not from New England. Most kids at Stanford are not from the West Coast. Most kids from UVA and UNC, in contrast, are indeed Southerners. Charlottesville and Chapel Hill are 100% Southern towns. Kids from Richmond, VA Beach, Charlotte, Raleigh, etc. are bona fide Southerners, and high standardized test scores doesn’t change that (btw, UGA and UF had almost - essentially equivalent - ACT / SAT averages to UVA and UNC last admissions cycle). So what makes them non-Southern?

Stop embarrassing the South with your dim witted prejudices and assumptions. Thank God we don’t have that mindset as a region. frick right off. You’re just as cancerous to the South as purple haired liberal halfwits - you both drag us down.

Case in point: If I walked through UNC and Ole Miss’ campuses (and removed the team colors, logos, and any indications of each university), you could not distinguish between Carolina and Mississippi students. Which makes sense, because they’re both Southern. The fact that one is a top ranked school (Ole Miss is fine too, just different admission standards) doesn’t make it “not Southern.” The South isn’t all Bubbas and Rufus’ like you. It’s also Frank Underwoods and Rhett Butlers.

And, no, UNC and UVA are not “Ivy League wannabes.” Their students don’t want the climate, college towns, coeds, sports, or cultural ambiance of the Ivies. They want a great education in the South, which is what they get. If the SEC ever falls, it’ll be because of hick asses like you.

gives Ashville a run for it's money as the most liberal town in NC (with Boone in a close 3rd place....) It's not your typical southern town by a stretch....

I actually like the addition of Florida state if it happens.

Only one that seems like a weird fit is Virginia.

What does NC State offer that VT doesn't?

I'm not advocating for either, but this narrative of NC State having upside is so strange to me. It's a tiny brand.

Clemson for sure + FSU…

I think UVA, UNC, and GT would be great additions btw. It’s not just all about football - UNC (Basketball) and UVA (Swimming powerhouse) would help to elevate the SEC.

I think geography is part of it, but they are also picking schools that ESPN is willing to pay for to a degree and trying to block B1G out of their territory as well. And in essence, blocking Fox as well.

I think it’s 3 voices working together- The SEC, ESPN, and the schools looking for a new “home”

The rest of your post is pretty good but:

Is not right.

bullshite. Ole miss is one of the least strenuous academic institutions in the country in terms of admissions standards. You need a pulse and tuition

TV execs are convincing Conferences that new money is in Netflix type storylines for a mini series.

TV execs are looking for characters that are popular and can sell the show.

Clemson, UNC, Virginia, Miami and Florida State are great characters, flawed maybe, but they are big names that can draw audiences to tune in.

I agree about the noles running but it’s a different time now. I had a whole rather make a trip to Tallahassee than fkn 13 hours to Stillwater. Hell, we used to think going to LSU was on the other side of the world. That’s gonna be considered close when this is said and done.

FSU, GT unc, Clemson and nc state need to come on board. At least keep SOME regionality.

The only "culture" that matters is football and money.
