Thanks for ruining the surprise that many UF faithful will experience tomorrow morning when they turn the page from June to July.

I don't think this calendar was actually released by UF, it is not like the school can do anything about what some random calendar company does.

Yep, ruined July for 5 UF fans in good standing on TD.

It's a travesty.

I can't find anything about it other than similar sites like the OP linked.

I haven't seen it in the typical places you'd find something like that.

OK. I found the calendar. It's an "UF football alumni" calendar with some past players and Albert.

It looks like it may have been released by Turner Licensing. Walmart has it on their website but none in stock. Target has it on their website but it doesn't say if it's in stock or not. It did let me put one in the basket.

I suppose it was released prior to the murders. I can't remember the date this all came out.

Still, if I were in control, I'd be telling Turner Licensing to pull that ish or you are not getting any more business from UF.

Obviously an honest mistake, but you would think UF and Turner would do everything they could to get those down.

I doubt Turner is interested since it's their profit at risk but I do wonder what, if anything, the UF legal team attempted to do about this.

I've tried to find anything from UF but have been unsuccessful so far.

Yeah, but I can hear the corporate excuses now. "We don't condone...yadda...doesn't represent yadda...stopped production...yadda...

They will all be in the trash soon enough anyway. I doubt they are a hot seller and 2015 calendars are probably in the works already.

it's july- no one is buying a 2014 calendar right now anyway except maybe people who want this one due to the fubar.

Incorrect.

I have a vested interest in collegiate sports calendars and I can tell you that someone at the U. of Florida had to sign off and approve the products and images.

Companies pay the licensing and royalty fees to produce the products, then pay a fee to the athletes featured in the calendar. The company that makes the Florida one usually can only get washed up guys that didn't cut it in the pros and they run them about 4-7 years after they last played so they can get the players to agree for about a grand to $2500.

Most collegiate calendars are really bad products as a result.

Kinda weird there's about the same number of Gators as Vols on this site. Hell we may outnumber them by one or two and that's not saying much.

As to the calendar... this is the kinda thing that gives both the academic side and athletic side of universities heartburn. UF spent a lot of cash striking Hernandez' name and likeness from every place it was displayed on campus. Obviously they can't control everything but for rant purposes, I'm obliged to say: Thug U

In all seriousness? The calendar probably got a general approval from the university - basically they likely signed a broad license and received small fee from the company in exchange for UF allowing the use of a few images and UF's name (peanuts, really). It wouldn't be something they'd even think about. The calendar company is probably doing hundreds of different calenders and the list was pre-selected before Hernandez was charged - they're not really thinking about any one calendar either. Plus, most calendar's are sold a year ahead of time - they used to be a Christmas buy but they'd be out months before.
