Texas A&M pursued LSU offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock for the same position before pivoting to Kansas State's Collin Klein, sources told FootballScoop on Wednesday.

Sources tell FootballScoop A&M's offer to Denbrock would have made him the highest paid offensive coordinator in college football. Clemson's Garrett Riley and Washington's Ryan Grubb each currently earn approximately $2 million per year.

They must have a humiliation fetish with the amount of hard no's they've eaten this cycle.

And everyone “steals” their players via the portal.

I would absolutely hate for them to steal Matt House.

Please, oh please don't let it happen.

There is no way LSU can afford to lose Matt House.

He is tGOAT.

Please stay away, Aggies.

Lots of false shite there too. But agreed unlikely an LSU OC leaves for a lateral move for OC at another school for more money. Lateral move.

If a rival has a good coordinator might as well make an offer and force your rival to give him a raise.

pretty sure having the #1 offense in the nation is what forced the raise

Speaking of false shite, the A&M side is saying he was contacted, was the runner up, but pushed the conversation hard signaling ongoing interest as a tactic to up his contract with LSU.

Well played by the man if so.

Your current HC left Notre Dame while they were in contention for a playoff spot.

You are probably a new LSU fan and didn't know how fricking stupid your comment is. Carry on....

It’s worth a shot, but Denbrock wouldn’t take that job. A&M is about to start a rebuild.

To be fair, "the A&M side" constantly makes shite up, especially Looch.

I think Denbrock was going to be extended anyway. Not that it would have been a hard sell. He’s done a great job so far.

I think everyone is making stuff up. This is the rant.

But the Penn State and Notre Dame rumors were not an A&m thing.

Both stories were covered by the Kansas papers and news networks

Klein turns down Notre Dame

Kansas State football offensive coordinator Collin Klein to stay with Wildcats, not Notre Dame

Collin Klein is still a Wildcat.

Klein, Kansas State's first-year offensive coordinator, reportedly has turned down a lucrative offer to take a similar position at Notre Dame and will remain on Chris Klieman's staff.

Klein no doubt could have greatly increased his $600,000 annual salary by taking the Notre Dame job, but the comfortable family surroundings of Manhattan won out. His wife, the former Shalin Spani, played basketball at K-State.

MANHATTAN (KSNT) – K-State’s offensive coordinator is highly sought after.

Collin Klein, who is wrapping up year 10 on staff with Kansas State, has reportedly been offered jobs by multiple other Power Five programs since the end of the 2023 regular season.

A source tells 27 News Klein turned down an opportunity to become Penn State’s offensive coordinator last week. The Nittany Lions instead hired KU offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki.

we were excited because it was a new hire from a good university. not because we stole him.

Looch was literally bragging about how mad Manhattan was this morning.

Such fragile egos. I remember you all trying to explain away Joe Brady bolting for a new gig by saying 2019 was all a product of Steve Ensminger's brilliance.

Sigh.
