They don’t really. This wasn’t a good year/team but A&M has been a decent program.

This is baseball, not football. Great coaches who are entrenched at their current programs aren’t coaching for a huge pay day and schools aren’t in a coaching salary race. The investment comes in facilities at major programs and quality of life. There aren’t any baseball coaches who are nomads like in football. Just look across baseball...The great programs have coaches who have long tenures. Vitello being the outlier, but all sign point to him staying where he is unless LSU makes a move.
The highest tier in baseball coaches is $1-$1.5 million. Childress was making $800k. “Huge raises” will flat out not happen like you seem to think it will.

Can’t imagine there are many programs out there whose baseball coaches have had longer tenures than Texas A&M’s.
