Disagree. Several different versions of a 16 team and they all look good.. I like this one the best though.

You can ignore the seeds. I tried to pick the 16 teams and then put them into 2 groups and just tried to come up with good matchups.
It isn't perfect because Georgia and Clemson already played this year.. and you can move the teams around as you please, but this would 8 entertaining games.. well at least 4.. Idk about the top group..
Perhaps switch SMU and Clemson.
Either way, the biggest problem with this 12 team format are the 4 byes. It should go to the top 4 seeds. When that doesn't happen, it throws everything else out of whack.
1. Oregon
8. Ohio State vs 9. Boise State
4. Penn State
5. Notre Dame vs. 12. Arizona State
3. Texas
6. Tennessee vs. 11. SMU
2. Georgia
7. Alabama vs 10. Clemson
This would have been far more entertaining imo.

both this and the 4 team playoff are MILES better than the BCS. rose tinted glasses and all that. do I think LSU is better than some of the teams in the playoffs? sure, but we lost 4 games. we're out. the only person who has gotten fully hosed so far in the playoffs is FSU, and even then I think we all agree they weren't winning without the QB. the amount of teams pre-playoff that got hosed are countless

B1G/SEC will break away soon to form NFL-lite.
I'm pretty sure when the BCS was forming in the 90s, they tried to exclude the smaller conferences. They sued under anti-trust violations and won.
These smaller conferences aren't included out of any sense of pity or anything, it's because they'll sue if they're not.

It’s coming.
Super League is the way to go.
Fans want to see the best play each other not run from each other.

Or alternately, (hear me out on this, it could seem wild and crazy)
how about winning enough games during the regular season it makes it impossible for the committee to leave your team out of the playoffs?
I know that sounds a bit radical, but it could work!

Easy for you to say when Sankey gifted y’all the easiest schedule minus Georgia.

One day they could add the crazy notion that some teams are better than others and take into account which teams beat other good ones.
But, definitely. better to wait a few years for the general public to wrap their heads around that.

If a team loses 3 regular season games, I don't care how tough your schedule was, you are not a championship caliber team. Any 3 loss team has no business being in the playoffs. I would even say this for a conf champ who lost 3 regular season games but somehow backed into their conf champ.
Let's also not forget who Bama's 3 losses were to. Two of those teams are unranked.

The SEC. 24 teams. 2 divisions
The Big Ten 24 teams 2 divisions
The top three teams in each divisions
2-3 winner plays 1.
The division winners play for the right to play in the championship game.
SEC champ plays the Big Ten champ for the football championship.

I don't completely disagree but:
1. either the playoffs will need to be only 10 or so teams with many of those being ones that simply avoided more Top25 teams most years to accommodate that requirement
OR
2. fill out the last 12 with Div 2 schools that are 11-1
OR
3. teams will schedule down as much as possible to not add a 3rd loss
Otherwise, they will be forced to do what the basketball committee finally did.
Create something like NET and make Quality Wins a main criteria so the fans get to see their teams play even more good opponents and get to see the teams that beat the most of those other good teams in the playoffs.
Even if it's a team that's 8-4 but played teams #1-12 during the season.

All I want in life is a constitutionally limited government, 5 power conferences and the BCS.

I'm with Leach. Let's just remove all the drama and see who is the best. 64 teams.

I wish I could get in a time machine and go back to 1982. This whole system sucks. Give me 5 New Years Day Bowl games to end the season, some red beans and rice and collards and cornbread, and a cold six pack.

Didn’t TCU drop from 3 to 6 after winning their conference championship by like 50 a few years ago?
I also remember Penn St winning the Big 10 and had beaten Ohio St but they let Ohio St in

Fbs needs to split divisions again. There are about 120 fbs schools(too many) and only about fifty are even competitive with the top teams. Those roughly 50 schools should just go Indy in football and agree to some rules rev share and a commissioner to ensure balanced scheduling.

Yeah but they had a bad non con loss to Pitt and a big ten conference loss. Osu was a one loss team.

Guaranteed to work unless you’re Florida State

If there are blowouts in this 1st year of the 12 team playoffs it will speed up the SEC and Big 10 breaking away. I could easily see Texas putting a 60 to 3 type score on Arizona St. Also could see Boise St getting destroyed as well. Neither of those two things will be good for ratings and show the auto conf bids that those 2 got are shams.

You’ve lost your mind or never had one if you think Texas is beating any playoff team by more than thirty. Hell I wouldn’t be surprised if asu doesn’t even play tex
