This is the obvious defense of Auburn fans and I get that. But, I seriously would have been ashamed of what I watched last night if it were my team. Cam Newton is the most self centered kid I have ever seen. It will be fun to look for that smile when the shite hits the fan with him.

Well thank you for the compliment, but I must inform you that this board, the SEC Rant, has never been fond of Auburn since it's inception, so people agreeing with you isn't quite unexpected.

I have always hated Auburn because it's a rivalry and it angers me that they are undefeated and might win a national championship. Maybe I can lessen the pain a little if I paint their team as classless cheaters and get others to think the same.
Our rivalry with UF and Bama is just as heated, but we all cheered for them in the MNC and were happy to hear the SEC chant. This jealousy spin is ridiculous.

I'm sorry, you must have forgotten last year when Alabama was in the SECCG and beyond. The hate was pretty immense.
Claims of "classless" Alabama players and vast conspiracy theories were just as prominent then as they are now. And you know what, they'll be here next and year and the year after that and the year after that if the team that has success is not the team that people root for.

Auburn is doing a great job of that themselves. No need for me to spin it anymore.

Illegitimately.

I will take a perma-ban if Oregon scores less than 50 on Auburn. Oregon would, for sure, destroy Auburn.
However, they will not get the chance since Alabama will unleash a can of whoop-arse on Auburn that will make 2008 look like a good game.

Your condescension is duly noted.

Part of it is that the team on top always gets a lot of hate, that is true, but don't be silly, the hate for Auburn is much worse than it was for us last year.
With us it was just some pie in the sky officiating conspiracy and that we were arrogant. With Auburn there's just a lot more to it.

There's always hate with Bama, and you probably heard more than your share since you are likely in contact with lots of Auburn fans. But still there were plenty that rooted for Bama and enjoyed the S-E-C chant at the end. I generally root for every S-E-C team when playing outside the conference. I take a lot of pride in the SEC, and when our conference is great it only makes winning it feel all the better. But right now, I don't feel pride in Auburn's accomplishments, just embarrassment. Think about how you felt about Kiffen when he was at UT... That's how I feel about Auburn right now. It's sad, because (assuming you make it to the MNC) I'll really want to root for you... but I just won't be able to. I may not even watch.

WTF do you bring to this board?

Ross, I agree that you and Nortizzle are considered some of the level-headed, interesting Aubie posters on this site.
If possible, stay away from the other crappy Auburn posters, which includes everyone in this thread but you too. JMO.
They have made your fanbase look worse than any other in the country. I actually think the Aubs in here are worse than the Tennessee fans last year when Kiffin was their coach. I know you can relate to how bad that was. Don't be them.

I actually hate the "S-E-C" chant anyway. As an LSU fan, it did nothing for me to hear Bama or Florida chant that. It gave me no additional pride.
Then again, I am an LSU fan, and don't really care if anyone in the SEC wins a NC outside of them.

I like the way it pisses off fans of teams in every other conference in the country, but to each their own.

I get the reasons SEC fans like to see other SEC teams win titles. Exposure, recruiting, etc. It just doesn't sit well with me to see Bama, Florida, etc fans celebrating titles.
It does irk fans of others conferences, so that is fine, but I just think at that moment the entire thing should be focused on a school, not a conference. But I spent 20+ years of my life in the South, so I do understand the "togetherness" of it, lol.

Wow some of you guys really are full of fail. Its almost comical calling us a disgrace to the SEC when two of the teams that you mentioned as representing the SEC well are UGA and Bama. Sorry but UGA has not represented the SEC well at all (how many arrests is it now?). As for Bama, well there was the Dareus scandal, the textbook scandal, and the Julio and Ingram fishing boat scandal.
Now, the first thing that has come up against Auburn, even though it has almost been proven that Auburn didn't do anything wrong and it was basically Cecil Newton talking to MSU about the money, Auburn represents the SEC poorly. Yes, the altercations at the end of the game were in very poor taste, but if you go back and watch it, look at the UGA players that jumped Fairley right before the fight. I'm sorry he hurt the UGA QB, but that is football and he hit him hard. The refs didn't see anything illegal (i know refs make lots of mistakes in this league) but the UGA players were just as guilty as Auburn's.
