Remember we just saw this a couple years ago in the SEC. The Chiz went 14-0 just 3 years ago, and has since been fired after going 0-8. I'm certainly not saying that will happen, but a GREAT player can make a coach look better than he is.

Bump, because the other ranking of SEC coaches is a troll thread

do you think UF wins if they play aTm in the middle or at the end of this past season?

Yes, I do.
I don't think you even watched Florida this year. You already said you think Muschamp did a better job than Sumlin, which is fricking ludicrous, and now you're saying Florida would have beaten the hottest team in the country at the end of the year.
Do you not remember Florida getting bent over by a Big East team? They wouldn't have had a chance in hell of beating A&M in the middle or end of the season. Like I said earlier, they needed a last second miracle fluke play to beat Louisiana-Lafayette.

they have proven themselves in the SEC. Freeze was not great but he also took over a horrible team

Have you lost your fricking mind? Biliema got his team to 3 Rose Bowls while he was at Wisconsin.
no he didn't...he got them to 2. OSU and Penn State got them to the 3rd one.

How do you rank a coach that hasn't coached a game in the SEC? Just asking...
Spurrier>Miles is a joke as well.

1. Saban
2. Spurrier
3. Miles
4. Richt
5. Sumlin
6. Muschamp
7. Bielema
8. Freeze
9. Franklin
10. Malzahn

12. Mullen
13. Jones
14. Stoops
I think as of right now there is a clear separation between 1-4, 5-10 and 11-14.
I think 1-4 is pretty set in stone based off of past accomplishment in the SEC and where their programs are now. You can probably reorder 5-10 in many different ways depending on your argument. I think 11-14 is going to be the consensus bottom 4 as well no matter the order.

But 2012 wasn't just one player. TAMU had 4 All-Americans; 6 guys will be drafted this April.

I think Muschamp did a better job than Sumlin this year.
The AP disagrees.
How many folks guaranteed Muschamp would win 6 this year?
Muschamp turned the corner. Dooley fell off the cliff.
Re Sumlin, let's wait another season and see how they finish now that people take them for real.

Muschamp more than exceeded expectations this year. Most Florida fans were saying they'd be happy with an 8-5 season. They went on to win 11 games in the regular season.

Are you suggesting the fact it took Muschamp longer to win games in the SEC than it has Sumlin cuts against an argument that Sumlin is better?
I'm just trying to figure out why we need another year to say Sumlin is a better coach right now.

This list is pretty awful. Just off the top of my head. Freeze and Mullen are impossible to prove as being better than Bielema. Muschamp Sumlin, and Franklin are tough cases to make as being better. Florida has a better talent pool than any other team in the east, Sumlin walked in on an OL that was loaded, and Franklin has done well at vandy but still hasn't come close to accomplishing anything except being over .500 which is a big deal at vandy.
We really should stop with the constant ranking threads, i don't even have the energy to troll these anymore.

A Real Ranking Of The SEC Coaches
If we're talking about the best coach I don't see how anybody can't see Spurrier is clearly number one. Championships aside that guys gone places and won where there wasn't already a history of doing so at that institution.
Places? Charley Pell says hi...from the grave.
And seriously...exactly what has Spurrier won at South Carolina? One trip to Atlanta to get his arse handed to him? Granted, he's turned the program around and made it competitive, but in that regard he hasn't done a whole lot more than James Franklin.

Not really. They started the season top 20 and finished top 15.

They started the season ranked #23 and I remember many people on this board, including Florida fans, saying that they didn't deserve to be ranked in the Top 25 when that poll came out.

lol. someone is still butthurt over the 2010 game.
and he said championships aside, so asking what he has won at USC is pretty dumb. How much has he won would be a better question.
And James Franklin has had one 9 win season at Vandy. Spurrier has had back to back top 10 finishes. I'd say thats a whole lot more
