Kyle Field has always been loud as hell This was the era where they briefly had the stupid rule that if the crowd was too loud they would threaten to throw a flag and Texas whined like the little bitches they are.
That said 75k vs nearly 110k isn't the same. Kyle now is also enclosed so the noise has nowhere to escape.
As for this year it's too soon to tell but it doesn't bode well for Texas that their QB's don't do as well under pressure because pressure is absolutely going to be applied on Nov 30 in every possible way. Wouldn't surprise me if there are 100k people outside tailgating to go with the 110k that get in the game.

I watched a terrible A&M team go toe to toe with the horns the year they won the natty. It's the only Lone Star Showdown i've attended, but it was absolutely epic despite the loss.
The records/predictions are meaningless on November 30th. Might as well light em on fire.

Not after what I saw on Saturday…they looked great. They played physical and hard. And that young qb looked frightfully good.

Hopefully we keep our shoulders square to the LOS.
While this isn't usually called on WR's, it is a rule. It is normally called on a RT or LT who has one foot in the backfield trying to gain an advantage against the edge player on defense.
It was a great play call, but unfortunately for Vanderbilt, the coaches didn't seem to know that rule.

It was louder back then. Chicks on cell phones have killed it.

The crowd noise was much more brutal in the little Kyle field. Idk why, acoustics or whatever, it doesn't make sense but it was freaking brutal.
Different times. The yell leaders and band don't get nearly as much control like they used to have.

Lots of football between now and then to worry about first.

I think aTm wins out and goes to Atlanta.

There’s a reason people are unaware of it and that’s because it’s never enforced…particularly at a time when many offenses are signaling in plays/audibles from the sideline and receivers will turn to look.
It was a bullshite, bailout call and everyone watching knew it.

Also, as I was watching the A&M vs LSU game, it seemed like way too much music was being played, they never missed a down moment to blast something.
Old school Kyle never blasted frickin music. Yells or GTFO.

Every single WR lines up square to the ball for a reason.. yes, they turn to get the play call, but they always turn back to square their shoulders before the snap. Every single time. If he is off the line, it isn't called, because it only applies to the 7 players on the LOS.
It's a pretty simple rule actually. I think it would take you a while to find an example of the same WR formation where it wasn't called. WR's always square their shoulders.. That is why it is never called..

This is a fun conversation, but I agree with the various previous posters that say that both teams have some real work left in front of them to make this discussion relevant.
The potential for this game to be really really fun and very meaningful is there, let's hope that both teams do their part in the coming weeks to deliver us such an amazing football gift.
I know that USC this weekend will be a handful for us, and Auburn at their house will be tough.
If we can play well and win those games, then I will personally revel in all the ridiculous smack talk that would accompany the renewal of an old rivalry with a bang. But only after the next three games are behind us.

Alright, so what’s the advantage?
Presumably the rules exist for player safety or to prevent an advantage over the other team.
What advantage does a receiver gain by not squaring his shoulders? I can see how it would be a DISadvantage if you’re trying to run a route downfield.
Stupid rule, rarely enforced, and took away a key play for Vandy.

100% agree, it is a stupid rule.
It's never enforced because all WR's square their shoulders because as you said, it's advantageous for them to do so.. Unfortunately for Vanderbilt, their coaches didn't know the rule, because if they did, the play would have worked.
It's also unfortunate that the game we all love has a lot of stupid rules..

Texas is the more complete team. Should be favored.

A&M isn’t a great team. They beat LSU because they caught us with our pants down in the 2nd half, and Nussmeier completely imploded.
Very hard to not have an answer on defense and a QB who cannot play unless the momentum is completely on our side. Max Nussmeier.

Probably because A&M doesn’t have a well defined offensive philosophy. We look good at times (Weigman vs Mizzou, Reed vs LSU), but this late in the season we should have a well defined starter and instead we have rough patches where we don’t score for a while and have to switch up QBs.
In the new era of college football you need to be able to put up a lot of points, consistently. And the media probably perceives the longhorns to have the better offense. But we will see at the end of November, that’s why you play the games.
